Billy Wade Merriman, 66, formerly of Sardis, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009.

Services were Sunday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Tenn. He donated his body to the Medical Education and Research Institute’s (MERI) Genesis Donor Program hoping that a cure for diabetes will be found.

Merriman, born June 23, 1942, to the late Adrian Wade and Hazel Merriman, was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, an active member of the United Methodist Men’s Club and served as usher for the church.

Survivors include: his wife of 34 years, Janice Enzor Merriman; one daughter, Aimee Merriman Jones and her husband, Kelly; one son, Christopher Merriman; one brother, Bobby Merriman of Batesville; one sister, Joyce Merriman of Sardis and two grandchildren, Landon Wade Jones and Allie Ruth Jones.

MEMPHIS–Mary Ellen Morgan, 97, formerly of Batesville, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Graceland Nursing Home.

Services were Friday at New Enon M.B. Church. Burial was in East Batesville Cemetery. Ronnie Butler officiated. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home had charge.

She was a member of Deliverance Tabernacle Pentecostal Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Morgan.
