Lynda Milam Nelson Cole

CHARLESTON–Lynda Milam Nelson Cole, 65, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at her residence. She was the mother of Sherry Nelson Roberts of Courtland.

Services were Monday at Womble Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Avery Jones officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. Womble Funeral Home had charge.

Cole, born Oct. 25, 1943, in Talla, to the late William Harvey Milam Sr. and Norine Young Milam, was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church. She was an assistant teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira N. Nelson Jr.

Survivors along with her daughter include: her husband, Terry Cole; two sons, Alec Nelson of Charleston and Shawn Cole of Charleston; one sister, Betty Milam Wolfe of Vicksburg; two brothers, Dan L. Milam and Jack Milam, both of Charleston and two grandchildren.

Ellen Vivian Curry

BATESVILLE–Ellen Vivian Curry, 45, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Second Concord M.B. Church. Rev. Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macedonia Church cemetery. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home has charge.

Curry, born July 10, 1963, in Sardis, to Jearlean Curry of Batesville and the late Eddie Curry, attended North Panola High School. She was a homemaker.

Survivors along with her mother include: her husband, Alfred Thornton of Batesville; one daughter, Nicole Curry Flowers of Batesville; two sons, Alexander Curry and Alfred Curry Jr., both of Batesville; six sisters, Susie Curry of Como, Maebelle Curry and Everlyen Curry, both of Sledge, Christine Curry of Clarksdale, Helen Curry of Crenshaw and Earnestine Rudd of Batesville; two brothers, Plez Curry of Batesville and Eddie Curry Jr. of Florida and four grandchildren.

Gracie Edwards

Gracie Edwards, 92, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Simon Chapel No. 2 M.B. Church near Como. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home has charge.

Edwards was a member of Simon Chapel No. 2 M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Lee Edwards.

Survivors include: seven daughters, Minnie Carlton of Memphis, Emma Edwards and Gracie Mae Edwards, both of Sardis, Ruthie Faulkner and Wrenetha Faulkner, both of Senatobia, Bobbie Legge of Batesville and Mildred Crawford of Memphis; two sons, Jimmy Edwards of Como and Bernis Edwards of Sardis; 40 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Lebron Hervey

BATESVILLE–Lebron Hervey, two months, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Otis McKinney will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Green Cemetery in Sardis. Visitation is today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Hervey was born February 4, 2009, in Oxford, to Theron Hervey and Ann Dean, both of Batesville.

Survivors along with his parents include: his grandparents, James and Bernadine Dean of Batesville; Carolyn and Gary Tines of Water Valley; one sister, Tiana Hervey of Batesville; two brothers, Theron Hervey Jr. of Water Valley and Rodrick Pitts of Oxford.

Billy Wayne Hopper

NEW ALBANY–Billy Wayne Hopper, 58, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in New Albany. He was the brother of Larry Hopper of Batesville.

The family will hold a private memorial services at a later time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Hopper, born May 2, 1950, in Memphis, to Lola Dye Hopper Killingsworth of New Albany and the late William Roger Hopper.

Survivors along with his mother and brother include: one daughter, Jamie Hopper of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Linda Farris of New Albany and two grandchildren.
