BJH baseball remains undefeated

The South Panola Tiger junior high baseball team remains undefeated with a 3-0 record. They have outscored opponents 36-7.

In their district, they are tied with Oxford. Batesville hosted yesterday but the score was not available at press time. The winner will take first place in the district and be the No. 1 seed going into the spring break tournament.

The first game was played at Water Valley on February 19 and the Tigers won 18-2. Luke Latham went three-for-four with a home run and five RBIs (run batted in). The winning pitcher was Hunter Durham.

The second game was played on the road at Lafayette February 23. The Tigers won 13-4. Hitting for the Tigers were Luke Latham, who went four-for-four and 2 RB; Dion Mix one-for-three a triple, two RBIs; Tays Hardy two-for-two; and D’Shawn Lindsey one-for-two, a double, and two RBIs.

The winning pitcher was Hunter Darby with three strikeouts and one walk. Dion Mix pitched in relief and had three strikeouts.

The Tigers hosted Marshall Academy Thursday and won 5-2 in the first game and 5-0 in the second. Hitting was Mix one-for-two, a triple and  three RBIs; and Latham two-for-two. Five pitchers combined had 14 strikeouts in five innings. They were Mix 2, Taylor Karr 3, Hunter Ivy 3, Tyler Nissen 2 and Latham 2.  Also pitching was Durham with three strikeouts, five hits and two walks.
