Robert Earl Crowder

BATESVILLE– Robert Earl Crowder died Thursday, February 26, 2009.

BATESVILLE– Doris Marie Hentz, 75, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at her residence.

Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim’s Rest M.B. Church. Rev. Melvin Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the church. Hodges Serenity Funeral Home in Oxford has charge.

Hentz was a retired school teacher. She was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest M.B. Church; was on the Mother Board and was a pianist. She was a mission instructor, director of vacation Bible school and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Victory Chapter No. 121.

Survivors include: one daughter, Twana Hentz of Batesville; one brother, Henry Lincoln James of Millington, Tenn. and two grandchildren.

COURTLAND– Luxie Mae Parker, 88, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh M.B. Church. Rev. Carl Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. today at Cooley’s Mortuary with family hour from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Parker, born May 20, 1920, to the late Jessie Street and the late Alma Virginia Sanford Street, was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh M.B. Church where she was an usher.

Survivors include: six daughters, Rosa M. Finley of Memphis, Margaret Smith of Courtland, Varis Morris of Batesville, Cecil Strong of Memphis, Mary Helen Harris of Centralia, Ill.and Verlene Love of Prescott, Ariz.; four sons, Jeffery Parker of Courtland, Bobby Parker of Memphis, Jimmy Love of Chicago and Jerry Love of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Ervin Virginia Visor of Knoxville, Tenn.; 46 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.

LAMBERT– James Howard Moore, 76, died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. He was the grandfather of Ryan Kendall Moore of Sardis, Michael Todd Moore of Batesville and John Christopher Moore of Como and the great-grandfather of John Payton Moore and Gabrielle Grace Moore of Batesville

Services will be held Saturday at Lambert Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Col. A.M. Sonny Moore III officiating. Burial will be in Lambert Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Moore, born Nov. 6, 1932, to the late Alvin Marion Moore and Nancy Jane Forrester Moore, was the retired chairman and C.E.O. of Moore and Sons Building Materials Inc.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lambert.

Being a Korean Vet, he held a “Life-Time” membership in the Bill Whitmire Post No. 3936 of the VFW of Clarksdale.

He was a master Mason with membership in Marks Lodge No. 216. He was a past secretary of the Lambert Lions Club and a past secretary of the Lambert Volunteer Fire Department.

He served 12 years on the executive committee of the Quitman County Democratic Election Commission and served for about 20 years on the Lambert-Marks-Quitman County Planning Commission.

Survivors along with his grandchildren include: his wife of 54 years, Mildred Ellen Ruth Moore; three sons, James Kendall Moore of Southaven, Randall Wayne Moore and his wife, Jane and Michael Dale Moore  and his wife, Sherry of Marks; two grandchildren, Ashley Ellen Moore of Southaven and James Jarrod Moore of Marks and one sister, Dorothy Jewell Moore Tedford of Okalona.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Lambert or the charity of the donor’s choice.
