Alice Jenkins Bullard

SARDIS– Alice Irene Jenkins Bullard, 90, died Sunday, November 16, 2008, at her residence.

Services were Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Sardis. Rev. Jerry Sanford officiated. Burial was in Peach Creek Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Bullard, born June 23, 1918, in Sledge, to the late Joseph Wilber Jenkins and Mattie Lou Smith Jenkins, was an employee of Blue Bell Manufacturing in Booneville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sardis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bullard.

Survivors include: two daughters, Joann Hutchens of Booneville and Juanita Bulimore of Sardis; two sons, J.C. Armstrong Jr. and Jerry Wayne Armstrong, both of Booneville and six grandchildren.

Cal Burford

INDEPENDENCE– Cal Burford, 37, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at his residence. He was the nephew of Rita and Hal Herron of Batesville.

Services were Thursday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

Survivors along with his aunt and uncle include: his parents, Pam and John Cal Burford Jr. of Independence and one sister, Misty Belk of Independence.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

Laderl Bollinger

MEMPHIS–Laderl Adrion    Bollinger, 85, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Baptist  Hospital  East in  Memphis. He was the grandfather of Lee Bollinger Gentry of Pope.

Services were Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Pittsboro First Baptist Church  with the Rev.  Steve  Maughan, the Rev. Michael Waldrop  and Dr. Buford Usry  officiating.   Burial was in  Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce. Parker Memorial Funeral   Home in Bruce was in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Feb. 28,  1923, in Bruce. He was a  retired maintenance  supervisor for Garan, Inc. in  Lambert, and was a member   and deacon of the Pittsboro First  Baptist Church.   He was a U. S. Navy  veteran of World War II  , and  a member of the VFW, American Legion and  DAV. 

Survivors include his   wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Floyd Bollinger of Memphis; one  daughter Ruth  Bollinger Edmiston of  Greenville; two sons, Phil Bollinger of Cordova and Ron Bollinger of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three sisters, Vivian Massey of Bruce, Ruth  Crutchfield of Calhoun City, and Faye  Parker of Houlka; one   brother, Henry X.L. Bollinger of  Nesbit; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family requests any memorials be sent to the Calhoun Baptist Association,  P. O.  Drawer S, Calhoun City, Miss. 38916. Designate to Peru and/or  Dakota Missions.

Almaree S. Belote

SARDIS–Almaree Stamps Belote, 83, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Methodist University Hospital.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Rock Hill M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Old Rock Hill Cemetery. Visitation is today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at New Rock Hill M.B. Church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Belote, born Sept. 25, 1925, to the late Tom B. Stamps and the late Rebecca Jane Francis Spencer, was a retired dietician and a member of New Rock Hill M.B. Church where she was an usher and a Sunday school teacher for the adult class. She was a financial secretary.

Survivors include: three sons, Robert Stamps of Spring, Texas, Kerrie Belote and Velton Belote, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Gloria Oler of Woodbridge, Va.; one brother, Larry Stamps of Colorado Springs.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Alice Mae Burnside

BYHALIA- Alice Burnside, 76, died Sunday, November 16, 2008. She was the grandmother of a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Panola County.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Tchulahoma M.B. Church in Holly Springs. Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater. Rodgers Funeral Home has charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Burnside.

Survivors along with her grandchildren include: four daughters, Mildred Burnside and Linda Jackson, both of Byhalia, Pamela Burnside and Brenda Tatebrooks, both of Holly Springs; eight sons, Dexter Burnside, R.L. Burnside Jr., Dewayne Burnside and Garry Burnside, all of Holly Springs, Melvin Burnside of Memphis, Daniel Burnside and Calvin Burnside, both of Davenport, Iowa and Joseph Burnside of Senatobia; six sisters, Ella Mae Taylor and Catherine Taylor, both of Memphis, Marilyn Commander of Chicago, Rosie Lee Waldrop of Jonesboro, Ark., Helen Wright and Tina Davis, both of Senatobia and one brother, Lee Chester Martin of Oakland, Calif.

George E. Hubbard

SARDIS- George Echizen Hubbard, 60, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at his residence.

No services were held. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Hubbard, born Aug. 27, 1948, in Tanabu, Japan, to Kimi Echizen Hubbard of Sardis, recently retired with The Parker Hannifan Company in Batesville where he worked in the Sample department.

Survivors along with his mother include: one daughter, Robin Rene’ Russell and husband, Ed of Batesville; one son, Christopher Dean Hubbard and wife, Laura of Gautier; his half-brother, Jon Hubbard of Virginia; his adopted father, Bob Hubbard of Anchorage, Alaska and three grandchildren, Drake Russell, Tanner and Mason Hubbard.

Eric J. Kelson

SARDIS–Eric J. Kelson, 37, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, from injuries received in a car accident in Crenshaw.

Services are today at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Kelson, born August 4, 1971, to Wardell Kelson and Roberta Kelson, both of Sardis, was a member of St. Matthews M.B. Church and a factory worker.

Survivors along with his parents include: his wife, Mary Leverson of Sardis; one daughter, Eschayla Kelson of Iowa; three sons, Samoun Winston of Memphis, Travon Colly and Marcellus Armstrong, both of Sardis; four sisters, Winnie Wright of Milwaukee, Annie House of Iowa, Essie Kelson of Sardis and Romonia Thomas of Horn Lake; one step-daughter and one step-son.

Shuntario Moss

COMO–Shuntario Antworne Moss, one month, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

He was born October 17, 2008, to Santonia Moss and Tiffany Cox, both of Como.

Graveside services were Thursday at Batesville City Cemetery. Rev. Tyrone Catchings officiated. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Sardis had charge.

He is survived by his parents; one sister – Tekyah Cox of Como; and his grandparents – Sandra Cox, Martha Danner and Fred Moss.
