SP basketball boys remain undefeated;
face Cleveland Thurs.
The Tigers defeated Senatobia 92-27 on Thursday night at home to keep their record at 4-0. Rico Keys scored a whopping 38 points and he was 12 of 15 from the floor. Quen Robinson scored 14, Antonio Jones had 13, Keenon Draper had 7, James Spragins had 7, Keenon Moore had 6, Patrick Howard had 5,and Jason Sims had 2. The Tigers were 23 of 36 from the free throw line. They had 12 turnovers and Senatobia had 23.
Lady Tigers down Senatobia to remain unbeaten at 4-0
The Ladies Tigers defeated Senatobia 70-37 Thursday night at home to remain undefeated 4-0.
Vetorra Cole scored 19 points, Skylar Barnes scored 16, Brittany Moore scored 9, Chasity Kearney scored 8, Essie Thomas scored 5, Christa Brown had 3 and Jasman Houston had 2.
The Lady Tigers were nine of 24 from the free throw line and 30-59 from the field. They had 18 turnovers and Senatobia had 27.
The Tiger teams will host Cleveland Thursday in non-conference action beginning at 6 p.m.
Ninth grader Tigers see success on the court

The South Panola ninth grade boys’ basketball team started the season off on the road with three games before returning.
The first game was in Senatobia and the Tigers lost 32-25 on November 4. Two nights later, they traveled to Grenada and got their first win, 31-20.
On November 10, they traveled to Center Hill in Desoto County and won, 31-27.
Last Thursday night, the Tigers played before their home crowd and defeated Senatobia in a close game, 19-18.
The starting lineup for the Tigers include #20 Jeremiah House, #23 James Watson, #3 Troy Collins, #22 Terrance Twilley and #15 Rondavius Taylor.
Scoring for the Tigers in the game with Senatobia were Watson, 8 points; Collins, 5; Taylor, 4; Chase Smith and Twilley, 1 point each.
Tiger head coach Brent Roberts talked about the season so far.
“Our defense was a little bit better tonight,” Roberts said. “We changed our full court press up just a little bit and we were able to put a little bit more pressure on them and they made some turnovers that they probably shouldn’t have made.”
Ninth graders have a tendency to make “tons” of mistakes, according to Roberts.
“You try to eliminate those as the season goes on,” he said. “We’re getting better but we’re no where near where we need to be. Our goal is to win the Chickasaw Conference tournament in January. To do that, we’re going to have to get where we don’t make near as many young mistakes.”
Roberts said the team depends on Watson to carry the load right now.
“He can get to the rim and he can drive real well,” he said. “If I can teach him to be able to finish and get to the free throw line and be successful there, it will make us a lot better. If we had a post player that could score a lot of points, that would help. I’m hoping that will come as we go along. It’s just the process of teaching them how to play. By the time they get to ninth grade, they’ve had two of three different coaches already and each coach does something different.”
The Tigers will be back in action December 1 at Desoto Central and December 12 at Lake Cormorant. They will not return home again until January 5 when they host Desoto Central.
