The city’s list of businesses hasn’t been purged recently and Police Chief Jimmy McCloud told board members the committee that studied the list to determine how each retail outlet in Batesville fits into the Governor’s order to Shelter in Place used the best information they had available.

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen recognized early in the process there will be disagreements about the decisions to order certain businesses closed because the state order is so legally broad. Any business owners and managers that believe they have been unfairly closed may challenge the board’s decision.
