A one-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon on I-55 left one dead and one injured according to Sgt. Leslie White of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

White said the accident occurred at 5:02 p.m. Friday near mile marker 248 between Batesville and Sardis.

Shanna Ennis of Sardis was killed in the accident after she was ejected from the 1996 Ford Explorer she was driving. A passenger, Jackie Ricks of Senatobia, received moderate injuries.

“They were southbound on the interstate when the vehicle went out of control,” White said. “The driver was ejected, but we don’t know what caused the accident.”

White said the incident remains under investigation.
