The Baddour Center’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Tricia “TP” Melvin achieved a milestone at Baddour when she celebrated her 40-year employment anniversary on Friday, Aug. 2.

The Baddour Center opened in December of 1978, and Melvin began work in August of 1979 when the first residents were admitted. She was the Center’s first Director of Residential Services, serving until 2012 when she became the Chief Operating Officer.

A Batesville native, Melvin has seen many changes through the years, including the various phases of construction to build, and now to rebuild and remodel the residential and program areas.

Executive Director Parke Pepper said Melvin’s career  has mirrored the success of the Baddour Center.  “She is an amazing person who’s positively impacted countless lives. It’s incredible to think about how she’s interwoven into the fabric of so many residents, their families, and Baddour’s history,” she said.

The Center hosted a 40-year anniversary gala in May where residents, staff, and guests enjoyed seeing highlights from each decade.

Regarding her tenure at The Baddour Center, Melvin said, “I am both grateful and blessed to have been a part of this awesome ministry! I have had the opportunity to work alongside some incredible people – residents, families, staff, board members, and donors – who believe in a mission that remains strong 40 years later.”

“It has and continues to be an honor and privilege to advocate for persons with intellectual disabilities and play a role in helping them realize their dreams and live their best life,” she said.

The Baddour Center, located in Senatobia, is a model residential community where persons with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and autism live, learn, work, worship, and play.
