The Panola County Election Commission will hold poll manager training for the Republican Party at the Sardis Courthouse at 6 p.m.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will offer the Hunter Education course that all persons born after Jan. 1, 1972, must complete to acquire a hunting license. The course is free and participants must register online at least one day before the classes are held. July 10

The Panola County Election Commission will hold poll manager training for the Republican Party at the Sardis Courthouse at 2 p.m.

First Security Bank will have a Social Security Financial Awareness Information Session Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The session will be held in the FSB Training Room, 295 Highway 6 West, Batesville. Presenter is Clancy Sohn, district manager. Session is free and open to the public. Anyone in the community with questions and concerns about social security benefits should attend this session. Sardis Farmer’s Market, Sardis, will have a special seniors day, Wednesday, July 10 from 3 to 7 p.m. 50 seniors farmers’ market nutrition program (SFMNP) vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. July 11

Quick Bites, offered through the Mississippi State University Extension Service will have Basic Sewing 101 with

Martha Cannon, master seamstress from Calhoun County on an interactive video from noon to 1 p.m. Contact the Panola County Extension Service at 563-6260 to sign up and view the program. Martha will share sewing basics including sewing on a button, replacing a hem, minor repairs, as well as basic items needed for sewing.

July 12

Sign up/pick up vouchers for the Mobile Food Pantry giveaway at Sardis Public Library from noon to 4 p.m. The pantry will be at Cistern Hill July 22 from noon to 2 p.m.

July 13

The Dreamriders will sponsor its annual Kids Day at the Lake, Saturday, July 13, beginning at 11 a.m. All children are 18 are welcome to enjoy refreshments, games, bouncy houses and see sights like the Lifeflight helicopter if it is available.

Black Jack Community Center will have Karaoke Night from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and concessions will be available. Good family fun. For more information, call 563-7060.

Batesville Police Dept. will have its 2nd annual Picnicking With Police community event inside the Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to the free event which will include food, games, bounce houses, slides, dunking booth, police cars, and horses from Oxford’s mounted division.

The NAACP will meet Tuesday before the third Sunday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Batesville Public Library.

The Panola County Election Commission will hold a public demonstration of the new DS 200 Optical Scanner election equipment at the Sardis Courthouse from noon to 6 p.m.

July 20

The South Panola Class of 1965 will have its annual lunch Saturday, July 20, at noon at Batesville First Baptist church Family Life Center. For information, contact Jim Pitcock.

Mt. Olivet Fire Department will host a Political Rally at 4 p.m. There will be fish plates with all the trimmings for $8, and a cake auction will raise money for the volunteer fire department. The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion

for Oct. 19. Contact 934-7281, 934-1272, or 703-0171 for more information or to help in the planning. All persons with connections to this class are urged to call. The reunion date is the day after the South Panola High School homecoming game in the fall.

The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.

Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Al-Anon Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Oxford University United Methodist Church, 424 S. Tenth St., Oxford. Take the Tyler St. entrance.

Wednesdays

Thursdays

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m.

The Como Farmers Market will be held each Thursday at the end of Main St. in Como from 3 to 7 p.m. More vendors are needed. Contact the Como Town Hall at 526-5106 for more information.

Saturdays

Every third Saturday of the month, the Batesville Lions Club will have Karaoke Night starting at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club building off Tiger Drive.
