Pope’s Board of Aldermen canceled its scheduled monthly meeting Monday, July 1, for lack of a quorum. The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 8, at 6 p.m. at the Pope Town Hall.
Last month it was reported Michael Boyette resigned his post as an aldermen due to a job relocation. Ann Rikard has since tendered her resignation from the board as she is moving out of the Pope town limits.
That leaves Pope with three aldermen, but Alderman Jessie Flowers was in a car accident in Memphis Monday and not able to make the meeting. He is reportedly doing good after suffering minor injuries, according to Town Clerk Tracy Holcomb.
Holcomb also said three people have expressed interest in the two vacant positions, so if they all three qualify there will be a special election.
