Bombers do well in 10U tourney

In sports, the goal for any team is to be at their best at the right time. For the Batesville Bombers, the time seems to be now.
The 10-and-Under All-Star baseball squad won three of four games over the weekend in the Dizzy Dean North State tournament at J.P.Hudson Park.
Batesville was slated to square off against the Horn Lake/ Clarksdale winner Monday at 6 p.m. with the winner of that game having to defeat undefeated Houston twice for the championship.
The North State winner returns to J.P Hudson tonight to take part in the Overall State tournament beginning at 6 p.m for the right earn a automatic bid to the Dizzy Dean World Seres later this month in Southaven.
Batesville opened up the tournament Thursday with a 18-1 romp over Marshall County.
Carlos Robinson paced the Bombers offensively with a triple and double with three runs driven in.Luke Alexander added a pair of singles and two RBI’s.
Brayden Gray blasted a inside-the-park homerun and scored three runs. Jace Hill supplied a double while Landyn Simmerman, Gabe Ward,Brooks Elliot and Isiah Baker provided singles.
Batesville defeated Calhoun County 9-7 Friday and Southaven 4-3 Saturday before falling to Houston 8-2 later in the day.
