Batesville softball teams compete in state brackets

Having lost three games in the Summer Bash tournament, the 6U Batesville Brats softball team bounced back for a fifth place finish at the Dizzy Dean North State tournament at J.P. Hudson Park over the weekend.

Batesville went 2-2 in the seven-team field, defeating Hernando 10-4 in Thursday’s  opening round game. The Brats were sent into the losers bracket with a 15-1 loss to eventual champion Greenwood Friday

The Brats came back with a 17-10 win over Saltillo Friday before being eliminated 16-3 at the hands of Cleveland Saturday afternoon.

In the 8U North State softball tournament, Batesville also claimed fifth place finishing 2-2.

Batesville dropped its opening round game 18-7 to Greenwood Thursday before cruising in the following two games with blowout wins over Water Valley( 13-2) and Indianola (16-0) before bowing out Saturday with a 12-6 loss to Hernando.

J.P. Hudson will host its third tournament of the Summer beginning Thursday with the 10U North State baseball tournament.
