This week the South Panola baseball squad opened its summer season.

Gage Heath and Dawson Griffin drove in three runs each as South Panola sent 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first.

Heath staked the Tigers to a 3-0 lead with a bases clearing double after Dre’ Moore singled and Mari Boyd and Bowen Williams were both hit by pitches.

John Blockmon and John Culp produced back-to-back doubles to extend the Tiger lead 5-0 with only one out in the inning.

The onslaught continued later on as Griffin belted a bases loaded triple into left field. Boyd, batting for the second time in the frame, drilled a triple to chase home Griffin for the final run.

The lead was plenty enough cushion for Brown as the senior-to-be scattered two hits over four innings with five strikeouts and three walks.

Cosby, who tossed the final inning, got into trouble with three walks but wiggled out of danger with a strikeout and fly out to end the game.

The Tigers added their final two runs in the third as Caleb White led off with a double and scored on Brown’s RBI single. Caleb Lantern later scored on an error.
