Obituaries (April 26th, 2019)

Mr. Thomas M. “Tom” Kimbro, age 78, passed away early Tuesday morning,  April 23, 2019, at Northwest Mississippi Medical Center in Clarksdale.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26 from 10 a.m. until service beginning at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Interment to follow in Marks Cemetery.

Mr. Kimbro was retired owner/ funeral director of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks; retired Chancery Clerk of Quitman County; former school board member and board member of Citizens Bank & Trust Co and a retired youth court referee.

Those whom he leaves behind that will cherish his memory include his loving wife Miriam Jacks Kimbro of Marks; two daughters Leslie Barns (David) of Marks; Lori McCandish (John) of Suwanee, Ga.; three grandchildren David Andrew Barns of Colorado Springs; Austin McCandlish of Suwanee, Ga.; Claire McCandlish of Suwanee, Ga; one sister Margaret Nelson (Johnny) of Batesville; and one brother, Jeff Kimbro (Laura) of  Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his parents John H. Kimbro and June Sanders Kimbro, one brother John B. Kimbro.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

 

A memorial service for Tommy Ray McKee, Sr., 40,  will be Saturday, April 27, at 6 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. Albert Beard will officiate.

He died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, near Hernando in an accident.

Mr. McKee was born May 8, 1978, to the late Thomas Edward McKee and Elizabeth Ann Karr McKee in Batesville.

He was a driver for Able Wrecker Service, worked for the Crenshaw and Pope Police Departments, and was the Assistant Fire Chief for Courtland.  He was a member of the MS National Guard. 

 

Shelby Ann Purser, 21, died April 21, 2019, in Memphis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 27,  at 2 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Margaret Bondurant will officiate.

She was born May 19, 1997, to Dustin Purser and Heather Griffin Purser in Memphis, and worked as a packaging clerk for Federal Express.

 

Funeral services for Thomas Wayne Winfield, 60, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel with Minister Doris McCollins officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Church cemetery in Courtland,

He died April 16, 2019, at his home in Courtland. Visitation will be today (April 26) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s.

Mr. Winfield was born May 7, 1958, in Water Valley to Charles Burgess and Hazel Winfield. He was a plumber.
