Lady Tigers drop 9-2 game to Olive Branch

The South Panola Lady Tigers fell to Olive Branch 9-2 in non-conference action on the road last Tuesday and Thursday’s district game against Tupelo was postponed.

The team committed 10 errors and only had five hits while Olive Branch burned South Panola for 10 hits.

The Lady Tigers (7-7, 3-0) avoided the shutout with two runs in the fourth.

Avery Seay scored on an error when Molly Seay’s fly ball to right was dropped, and Lena Franklin scored on a Gracey Harbour groundout.

Kaitlyn Tidwell got the start on the mound, pitching 2 2/3 innings and giving up six runs. Rebekah Cook pitched in relief.

Jr. Varsity

The Jr. Varsity Lady Tigers are (8-1-1) for the season after defeating Olive Branch 8-2. South Panola took a big 5-0 lead in the first inning.

Three of the first five batters were hit by pitch and two walked which accounted for two runs.

Addison Hardy picked up two RBI with a bases loaded double plating  Makenzie Perkins and Tristan Goddard.

Perkins later doubled driving home and Zykeria Sanford and Avery Seay. Goddard hit a triple RBI to left field driving home Seay for the 8-1 lead.

Harbour pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief, Avery Seay pitched one inning, and Tyler Hamby pitched the final inning.

The Jr. Varsity won the pool at the Morris Hunter Memorial Invitation Tournament in Southaven this past weekend.

If weather permits, the Lady Tigers will travel to Oxford for a district matchup today at 5 and 6 p.m.

The second installment of the Strike Out Cancer match up will be held at Grenada Thursday beginning with the middle school game at 4 p.m.

Saturday, South Panola will host Lewisburg in junior varsity and varsity non-conference games beginning at 11 a.m.

The Middle School will play in a Grenada tournament Saturday.
