Courtland board meets

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Courtland met Tuesday night to discuss business for the town.

The first item was issuing a permit for the Brown home at 1 Courtney Drive.  The couple will place a mobile home where they tore down the former home which had deteriorated. The area is the size of two lots and they have a 2019 28 x 76 feet mobile home.

The board spoke about a personnel issue. They did not want names released at this time.

Police Chief J. Hailey said they have trouble collecting fines from tickets. He said the outstanding warrants are as much as the annual budget.

He brought up a typo on a charge which should have been a cash bond of $1,417 to $517. The person had to spend two days in jail and almost lost his job.

He has called people who owe and they have promised to pay.

Fire Chief John Hubbard reported one person passed the academy and three more are in the class that has about two more weeks.

The board approved the paying of the bills for $1,0872.91.
