BJH takes three from Senatobia

Brianna McCarty’s 16 points lifted the Batesville 8th grade Lady Tigers to a 42-8 romp over Senatobia here Thursday. The win was one of three by Batesville in the four-game set.

Senatobia avoided the sweep by winning the 8th grade boys contest 27-22.

Gracie Harbour followed McCarty in the scoring column with nine points while Eden Jenkins added seven. Destiny Smith chipped in with six for Batesville and Makiyah Barksdale added two points. Alexus Hamilton finished with one point.

The Lady Tigers led Senatobia 21-8 at halftime and did not allow a point in the second half.

In the 8th grade boys tilt, Batesville led 19-18 at the end of the third quarter but could not hold on the the slim lead as a three-pointer from Senatobia with 49 seconds remaining in the contest sealed the victory for the visitors.

Coya Ford led the way for Batesville with 12 points while David Hubbard and Jaterrion Dorris added four points each. Jayden Smith garnered two points.

Both Batesville 7th grade teams came away with wins as the girls doubled up on Senatobia 14-7 while the boys slipped past the Warriors 14-10.

Kamiyah Griffin registered 10 points for the Lady Tigers followed by Jakelsejah Flowers and Justice Pope added two points each.

On the boys side, Michael Johnson was a one-man show scoring 13 points with five steals and three blocked shots. Johnson scored 11 of his points in the second half as the Tigers rallied from a 6-3 deficit at halftime. Kellen Norwood provided the other point with a free-throw.

The Batesville 8th grade took on North Delta last night and will resume its schedule after the Christmas holiday going to North Panola Jan.3.
