Jeffrey Wayne Brewer
BATESVILLE – Jeffrey Wayne “Jeff” Brewer, 44, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Panola Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow in Curtis Union Cemetery near Batesville. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The Reverend John Howell Jr. will be officiating the services.
Jeff was born June 20, 1974 in Batesville to Teresa Magliolo Browning of Batesville and the late Johnny Wayne Brewer. Jeff attended the First Baptist Church in Batesville and was a delivery driver for Tri-State Auto in Walls.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Rebecca Koszyk Brewer of Batesville; daughter, Ashton Blaine Brewer of Batesville; son, John Collins Brewer of Batesville; brother, Michael Scott Brewer of Tillatobia, and his grandson, Kenneth Brantley “Kotton” Helmes.
Easter Renee Johnson
ORLANDO – Easter Renee Johnson, 60, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Piedmont Henry Hospital, Stockbridge, Ga. She was the sister of Angie Allen of Batesville.
Funeral service was held Sunday, July 15 at New Rock Hill M.B. Church in Sardis. Henderson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
She was born April 5, 1958 in Panola County to the late Anderson Campbell and Rosie Lee Johnson McNeal.
She was a member of In God Tabernacle of Jesus Christ, Inc. in Orlando and worked for Zachary Construction Co in Orlando.
She is also survived by her children LaRhesa Flowers and Therix Johnson of Senatobia.
James Ronald Mitchell
James Ronald Mitchell, 82, died July 11, 2018, at The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, following a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born, August 5, 1935 in Hollandale to J. R. and Gladys Bowlin Mitchell.
James graduated from Friars Point High School in 1954 and later from Delta State College in 1962, following his service in the U. S. Air Force. He served in the Air Force as an Airman First Class, was honorably discharged, and received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion.
James spent his life doing what he love most…farming.
James married Ramona Tate on August 20, 1961 in Brewer, MS. During their almost 57 years of marriage, the couple lived in Indianola, Clarksdale, Batesville, and Pontotoc, Mississippi.
James’ survivors include his wife, Ramona; daughter, Audrey Morehead (Billy); sisters, Josie Ann Marshall, Frances Byrd, and Mickey Gallaspy; brothers, Billy and Doug Mitchell; sister-in-law, Jo Carolyn Mitchell; brother-in-law, Mike (Nan) Tate; and, sister-in-law Judy Tate (Glyn) Hester. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and R.E. Harris, and brother, Keith Mitchell. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.
The funeral service was held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Baldwin-Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc.
William Howard Hellums
POPE – William “Bill” Howard Hellums, 90, died at his home, Thursday, July 12, 2018.
A memorial service was held Monday, July 16, at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Tribble officiated. Bill’s cremains will be inurned along with his wife, Rose, at Crittenden Memorial Cemetery in Marion, Ark. at a later date.
Bill was born August 12, 1927, to the late Lawrence G. Hellums and Irrie Lenore Horde Hellums in Boonville.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a retired truck driver for Chevron. Before and after retirement Bill enjoyed volunteering for several organizations. He volunteered for the American Red Cross in West Memphis, the Corp of Engineers at Chickasaw Hill for 32 years, and the fishing day at Enid Lake for the physically challenged and Veterans.
Bill was a member of the CB Club and VFW in West Memphis. He was a lifelong member of the Chickasaw Hills Slab Slobs.
Terry M. Standard Sr.
ALTON, Mo. – Terry M. Standard Sr., 78, died at his home Thursday, July 12, 2018.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 15, at Wells Funeral Home. Interment followed the service at Bethel Cemetery in Enid. Reverend Derrick Simmons officiated.
Terry was born April 29, 1940, to the late Leonard Lamar Standard and Willie Mae Shipp Standard in Mississippi.
Terry worked as a store clerk during his lifetime. He was a member of Pope Baptist Church. Terry enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime was working with flowers with his late wife Juanita.
