Hotel customers tell officer computer, cash taken from room

Batesville Police Department received a report of theft from the Fairfield Inn and Suites Sun., April 29, where a customer reported to Sgt. Will Parrish he and his family checked into the hotel and left their items in the room as they attended a ball game.
The customer said he and his family returned to the room at approximately 10 p.m. and noticed their door card did not work.
According to the report, hotel staff moved the client’s belonging from his original room and placed him in a different room. No explanation for the move was given.
Upon his arrival to his new room, the customer noticed his son’s iPad and $1,400 in cash was missing from their luggage.
According to the report, the hotel staff gave no reason for moving the luggage when questioned by police.
The individual responsible for moving the guest’s luggage to a different room said due to lack of training she did not know how to appropriately take care of the situation.
All parties provided a written statement and the incident is under investigation.
