Joe Carson “J.C.” Allen

HARMTONTOWN–Joe Carson “J.C.” Allen, 80, died June 7, 2008, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Pate-Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Senatobia. Burial will be in Free Springs Cemetery in Harmontown. Pate-Jones Funeral Home has charge.

Allen, born Sept. 6, 1927, to the late Clifford and Hattie Allen, was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, a retired truck driver for Rebel Truck Lines and a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Allen.

Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Laverne Rhynes Allen of Harmontown; four daughters, Pat Stokes of Batesville, Veneda Ruby of Como, Mary Webb of Midwest City, Okla. and Kathey Carson of Arlington, Tenn.; two sons, David Rhynes and Lynn Rynes, both of Waterford; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.


Gale E. Bridges

BATESVILLE–Gale E. Bridges, 68, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church. Rev. Doug Pepper will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time at the church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Bridges, born Aug. 2, 1939, in Risco, Mo., to the late Willie Ervin and Vida Marie Berry Bridges, was a retail salesman and also retired South Panola School bus driver. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 30 years, Linda Bridges of Batesville; one son, Joey Bridges of Batesville; two step-sons, Otey Dahl of Pope and Randy Dahl of Grenada; two sisters, Delores Dill of Malden, Mo. and Darlene Edwards of Risco, Mo.; one brother, Gene Bridges of Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Betty Faye Gordon Turner

WATER VALLEY–Betty Faye Gordon Turner, 59, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at her residence.

Services were Monday in Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. David Floyd and Robert Rawson officiated. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Seven Oaks Funeral Home had charge.

Turner, born June 20, 1948, in Panola County, to Mary Alice York of Batesville and the late Robert Gordon, was a homemaker and a member of the Water Valley Church of Christ.

Survivors along with her mother, include: her husband of 37 years, Clinton R. Turner of Water Valley; two daughters, Crystal Hale and Beth Goodwin, both of Water Valley; one sister, Kathy Brewer of Batesville; one brother, Jim Gordon of Pope and one grandson. 

Judy P. Williamson

SOUTHAVEN–Judy P. Williamson, 61, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Boulevard Baptist Church, 885 Church Rd. in Southaven. Rev. Al Pihringer will officiate. Burial will be in Lovejoy Cemetery in Courtland. Visitation will be today 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Williamson, born March 26, 1947, in Memphis, to the late Columbus Andy and the late Lila Castleberry Tutor, was a member of Jonestown Baptist Church in Jonestown and she attended Boulevard Baptist Church in Southaven. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: her husband of 23 years, Glenn Max Williamson of Southaven, formerly of Courtland; two daughters, Patricia Garner Gates of Southaven and Donna Kay Quinn of Argyle, Texas; three sons, John Robert Garner of Nesbit, Glen Max Williamson Jr. of South Bend, Ind. and Phillip L. Williamson of Minot, N.D.; one sister, Louise Abner of Clarksdale; one brother, Billy Tutor of Glendale, Ariz. and nine grandchildren.

The family asks that memorials be sent to The Kidney Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
