Barbara Ann Blakely

WATER VALLEY –  Barbara Ann Blakely, 61, died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at her home in Water Valley.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on January 9 at Anchor Baptist Church. Burial will be in Anchor Cemetery. Dr. Gerald Shook will officiate.

Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home.

Blakely, born September 20, 1946, in Pontotoc to Hardin and Margie Walker Jones, was a member of Anchor Baptist Church.

Along with her husband David Blakely, survivors include Shane Blakely of Southaven and Jason Blakely and Andrew Blakely of Water Valley; 12 foster sons; her mother Margie Walker Jones of Oakland, sister Connie Henderson of Water Valley, and brother Tim Jones of Oakland.
Blakely was preceded in death by her father, Hardin Jones.

Velma Warrington Bounds

SHELBY – Velma Warrington Bounds, 83, of Shelby died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Quitman County Nursing Home in Marks.

Services were held Saturday, January 5 at Kimbro Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Kilgore officiated. Burial was at Lambert Cemetery.

Bounds, born January 16, 1924 in Crowder was a retired nurse. She was a Baptist.

Bounds was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Leonard Bounds Jr., son Edgar L. Bounds, III, and sister Eloise Willis. Survivors include her son, Leonard Bounds, of Merigold; sisters Helen Waller of Marks, Mickie Bryant of West Helena, and Sheila Ryals of Lambert; brothers Leon Warrington of Walls, Dr. James Warrington of Marks, Billy Warrington of Lexington, Joe Warrington of Batesville, and Dr. Paul Warrington of Cleveland; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Kimbro Funeral Home of Marks was in charge of arrangements.

Greggory Andree Lee

BATESVILLE – Greggory Andree Lee, 29, died  Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Lee was a native of Panola County and graduated from South Panola High School in 1996.

Services are to be held at 1 p.m. today, January 8 at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church in Batesville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Zannie Leland will officiate.

Survivors include brothers Stacy O. Lee and Willie E. Lee of Batesville.  
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Chapman Lee.
Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Eugene McKittrick

BATESVILLE – Glenn Eugene McKittrick, 78, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at his residence in Batesville.Services will be held at 11 a. m. on January 9 at First United Methodist Church in Batesville. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Michael Evans, Dr. David Ball and Larry Pratt will officiate.

Visitation will be today, January 8 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

McKittrick, born November 20, 1929 in Low Point, Illinois to Harry Allen and Amy Courtright McKittrick, was a retired vice president of Dunlap & Kyle Corp. in Batesville. He was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church in Courtland.

He served on the USS Everglades while in the U. S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked for South Side Chevrolet in Batesville. He served for many years on the board of directors of First Security Bank and was a member of the SP Community Hospital board. He was very active in the Mississippi Republican Party where he was an advisor.

McKittrick served one term as city alderman in Batesville. He was active in fund-raising for the Boy Scouts of America and served as a trustee at Eureka Methodist Church.

He enjoyed traveling in his motor home.

Along with his wife, Ruth Rice Austin McKittrick, survivors include daughter Amanda McKittrick Neal and husband Frank of Jackson; sons Danny Ray McKittrick and wife Becky of Cumberland and Pat McKittrick  and wife Jane Carol of Batesville; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Travis McKittrick, widow of Harry McKittrick, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; step-daughter Melissa Austin Corley and husband Paul of Hattiesburg; step-son Vance Austin and wife Christy of Courtland; sister Shirley McKittrick Omarah of Eureka, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

McKittrick was preceded in death by his wife Violet Marie Edwards and son Harry McKittrick.
Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patty Laverne Darby McPhail

ROLLING FORK – Patty Laverne Darby McPhail, 45, died in Rolling Fork.
Services were held January 3 in Rolling Fork.

McPhail was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Shine Darby of Batesville. She was the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dick Darby of Batesville and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones of Tilatobia.

Along with her husband Sully McPhail, survivors include her son Bert and daughter Rachel.

Also surviving are brother Ted Darby and sisters Debbie Gullick and Lynn Brooks of Senatobia. She leaves three aunts, Laverne Darby, Lillian Darby and Joyce Sullivan, all of Batesville.
