R.C. Bryan

MARKS–R.C. Bryan, 83, died Friday, June 15, 2007, in Senatobia. He was the father of Virginia Harrison of Batesville.
Services were Monday at the First Baptist Church in Marks. Rev. James Tidwell officiated. Burial was in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Bryan, born Feb. 14, 1924, in Calhoun City, was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and a retired merchant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marks and a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Lois Ferrell Bryan and one son, Michael Wayne Bryan.
Survivors along with his daughter, include: two daughters, Sharon Bryan and Cathy Larson, both of Dallas, Texas; one son, Cecil Bryan of Cordova, Tenn.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Marks or to First Marks Cemetery Association.

Nezzie Jackson

BATESVILLE–Nezzie Jackson, 100, died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at the Golden Living Center.
Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland. Rev. Carl Brown will officiate. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Jackson, born Aug. 19, 1906, in Batesville, to the late Alfred Johnson and the late Lela Griffin, was a retired shirt finisher at Batesville Pressing Shop for Mrs. Velma McCarter and a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Among them, those that cared for her include: Myrtis Allen of Chicago, Carolyn Cauthern and Gail Cauthern, both of Batesville; Robert Derrick Hentz of Batesville; one sister, Glennie Houston of Charleston and two brothers, Marvin Johnson and Andrew Johnson, both of Batesville.

Nella Egerson McEwen

MEMPHIS–Nella Egerson McEwen, formerly of Oxford, 63, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at The Med. She was the sister of Posey Egerson of Batesville.
Services were Saturday at Hodges Funeral Home. Rev. Alice Blackmon officiated. Burial was in Yocona Cemetery in Oxford. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
 Survivors along with her brother include: her husband, Rivers Williams of Memphis; one son, Richard McEwen of Oxford; one sister, Mineva Rowsey of Taylor and two grandchildren.

Levart Phillips

CARLISLE, Pa.–Levart Phillips, 65, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was the brother of Reedy Phillips of Batesville.
Services were Monday at Hodges Funeral Home. Rev. Odell Draper officiated. Burial was in Philadelphia Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
Phillips was a retired steel laborer.
Survivors along with his brother include: four brothers, Clifton Hilliard of Oxford, L.V. Hilliard of Memphis and Earnest Phillips of Cambridge, Ohio  and Henry Phillips of Iron, Ohio; one sister, Willie Mae Brassell of Oxford; two step-sisters, Betsy Strong of Memphis and Geneva Pointer of St. Louis, Mo.; two step-brothers, Sammy Phillips of Batesville and Willie Phillips of Memphis.

William Edward Mann

BATESVILLE–William Edward “Edd” Mann, 71, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Terry Floyd will officiate. Visitation will be today 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia, Ark. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Mann, born March 18, 1936, to the late Theodore and Ethel Boacher Mann in Walnut Ridge, Ark., was a member of First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville. He was a retired concrete contractor.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Joann “Jo” Thompson Mann of Batesville; two daughters, Marilyn Mann of Batesville and Renee’ Mann Power of Greers Ferry, Ark.; one son, Eddie Joe Mann of Horn Lake; two brothers, J.C. Mann of Lake Charles, Ark. and Jerry Mann of Raven Den, Ark.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Charles Martin II

PONCHATOULA, La.–Robert Charles Martin II, 46, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Batesville.
Services were Monday at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Rev. Joshua Day officiated. Burial was in Sand Hill Cemetery. Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home had charge.
Martin, born Sept. 8, 1960, to Robert Charles Martin and Jeanne Wrenn Whitt, was a service manager for Duhon Machinery in St. Rose, La.
Survivors along with his parents include: his wife, Connie O’Pry Martin; two daughters, Amanda Martin Barnett and Amy Martin; two sons, Jonathan Martin and Benjamin Martin; three brothers, Kenny Martin, Marty Martin and Chris Martin; one sister, Candace Martin; his grandmother, Mary Martin and two grandchildren.

Beverly King Robinett

BATESVILLE–Beverly King Robinett, 85, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Golden Living Nursing Home.
Services were Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Sam Messina officiated. Burial was in Memphis Memory Gardens. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Robinett, born Oct. 3, 1921, in Memphis, to the late William Dockery and the late Mary Glancey King, was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Robinett.
Survivors includes her brother, Donald J. King.
