Excitement over Job Fair grows daily

“Bubbling” was the description of the anticipation building at the Mississippi Department of Employment Security’s local WIN Job Center office this week as they near the third annual Governor’s Job Fair in Batesville on June 14 at the Batesville Civic Center.

The Job Fair is free to people needing jobs. Thousands will turn out to visit employers for whom the event is also helpful because it gathers so many prospective employees in one place at one time.

The MDES and its Governor’s Job Fair Network and local volunteers do all the work. And it’s at no additional cost to taxpayers because the participating companies pay registration fees that cover the expenses.

The Governor’s Job Fair Network has honed a public/private partnership that is a win-win event so rare in today’s world.

If you are looking for a job or you are looking for a better job, consider:

Last year almost 2,000 people visited the event in Batesville where 60 employees were hiring everything from drivers to troopers to deckhands to bankers. Of those 2,000 people, 274 got job offers that day and another 500 were hired later as a result of their visit to the Job Fair.

And if you are worried that you don’t have a marketable job skill, come to the Job Fair anyway. You will find several avenues of opportunities for job training and education.
