North Delta will host the jamboree with teams from Marvell, Ark., Lee Academy of Clarksdale and Marshall Academy of Holly Springs.

This week the team has focused heavily on stopping the Marvell attack, said head coach Richard Russo.

“The guys are enthusiastic in practice,” Russo added. “I can’t wait to see them apply that enthusiasm to a game against someone other than themselves.”

Lee Academy and Marshall Academy will scrimmage at 1 p.m. North Delta and Marvell will follow at 3 p.m.

Saturday night the coaches will vote on the recipient of the coveted Brandon Presley award, which was introduced last year.

In a history-making event, the North Delta Jr. High played Pope Jr. High at Pope Friday night. Pope walked away with the 38-6 win.

This game is “groundbreaking,” according to  Russo, for public and private junior high schools in Panola County playing each other.
