Season tickets for the 2006 football season are on sale through August 4, for people who previously held season tickets from last year.
Tickets may be purchased for $45 from 8 a.m. to
2 p.m. Monday thru Friday in the high school office. Remaining season tickets will go on sale to the public on August 7.

South Panola will open the season on Friday,
August 25, in Clarksdale. The Tigers will play a pre-season scrimmage in Jackson at Hughes Field, where Provine plays.
Participating in the scrimmage with South Panola and Provine will be Brandon High School. |

Unique Sports Academy, to benefit the Youth Foundation in Charleston, will present The Rock River Classic softball tournament. The tournament will be held August 4-6 at Grenada.

Conxion Angels 12 year old tryout camp will be held Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5, at 4 p.m. at Nesbit Baptist Church. Players should plan to attend both days and must be 12 years old or under on April 30, 2007.

South Panola High School baseball will host an "Old Timers Benefit Baseball" tournament on Saturday, September 16. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the South Panola High School Office, from Shelter Insurance, any player or parent.
Fee includes admission and a chicken plate. Proceeds will benefit the four baseball players who were injured in a car accident recently.

A concert to benefit the South Panola High School Competition Cheerleaders will be held on Saturday, August 19 at The Eureka. The Lighthorse Harry Band will perform music from the ’60s and ’70s.
This benefit is to assist with financing the cheerleaders’ February 2007 trip to national competition in Orlando, Florida. Special guests will be cheerleader coach Tammy Wilkinson, SPHS head football coach Ricky Woods, and the "Voices of the Tigers," Judge George C. Carlson, Bob Norris, Steve Wingert.

The South Panola High School baseball program will host a Fall Instructional League every Tuesday in September 2006 from 2 to 5 p.m. Children ages 10 to 13 can participate. The cost is $40 and includes a t-shirt. T-shirt sizes will be taken the first day of the session.
The dates of the sessions will be September 5, 12, 19 and 26.
Sessions will stress baseball fundamentals such as fielding, throwing, hitting, pitching and catching as well as squad games.

August activities
As the month of July comes to a close, summer activities at Enid Lake begin to slow down with the anticipated arrival of the upcoming school year.
Students begin to retire their swimming trunks for notebooks and backpacks, parents begin shopping for their children’s school clothes and supplies, and teachers begin preparing lessons plans and homework assignments.
The Enid Lake personnel would like to remind all visitors to be aware of the school buses that will begin traveling around the rural roads as well as the main highways in the next few weeks. Buses will be on the roads mornings and afternoons as well as weeknights while traveling to and from football games.
Beginning in August the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin the annual draw down of the lake in hopes of reaching conservation pool of 230 feet above mean sea level by December 1.
Enid Lake is presently at lake level 247.20 with the gates opened a total of 1/2 foot. With the opening of the gates the outlet channel will become a very popular fishing spot for anglers.
The outlet channel provides bank fishing and anglers another chance to land the popular flathead, and channel catfish. The outlet channel also provides a place to catch crappie, bass, and bream.
Another popular style of fishing for this time of year is drift fishing and trolling in the lake. Drift fishing and trolling provide anglers unique ways to catch catfish and crappie, which are located in deep water of the lake this time of year.
These fishing styles allow anglers to fish more water increasing their chances of catching more fish.
Water Safety
Citation Program
As part of the Enid’s Water Safety Program, the U.S Army Corps of Engineers have partnered with local restaurants to establish a Water Safety Citation Program at Enid Lake.
The Water Safety Citation Program is designed to reward park visitors for exhibiting safe boating, swimming, and fishing practices. Rewards include food and beverage coupons to area restaurants.
The following businesses have provided the Enid Lake Water Safety Team with food and beverage coupons to be given out by park rangers as they catch or observe park visitors practicing water safety: McDonald’s, Back Yard Burgers, Subway, Hardee’s, and Burger King.
Enid Lake would like to thank each of the sponsors for their participation in promoting water safety.

| Patton Lane to host "Pine" Clark tourney |
| The first ever Willie Earl Clark men’s softball tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Patton Lake Park.
Patton Lane in the park in which Clark, better known as "Pine." dedicated a lot of his time and energy to help maintain and restore while he was alive.
According to coordinator, Kendrick Barr, Clark’s death left a big hole not only in the lives of those who knew and learned under him, but also at the park itself.
Barr, along with Darrin Ford and Melvin Vaughn, organized this tournament in order to remember a man who cared more for them when they were growing up than just about anyone else.
Not only will the tournament be held to remember Clark, but a scholarship will be established for a student out of Ward 2 to receive when they graduate from high school.
Donations for the scholarship will be accepted.
All tournament games will be played Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
Championship games will be played Sunday beginning at 4 p.m.
An entry fee of $75 will be collected from each team.
Concessions will be available. Music will be by Darrell Phillips. Tents will be set up to curtail some of the heat from the sun.
