A grand slam by Bryce Raddatz and a two-run homer by Chris Pike led the North Delta Green Waves to a 16-6 win over Marvell Monday.

This was a non-district game and head coach David Hardy said he was real pleased with the Green Waves’ play.

Pike pitched the complete game for the win.

That toughness carried over to the Tuesday district game with Bayou Academy, but a couple of fielding errors resulted in a 2-1 Bayou win.

Evan West took the loss.

"He pitched about as good a pitching performance you could ask for," Hardy said.

Hunter Darby hit a solo homerun in the top of the fourth for the 1-0 lead.

Bayou scored in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score at one.

"There was a play in the field that I felt like we should have made," Hardy said.

Bayou had two outs with a runner on first when the ball was dropped. The second run was similar to the first for Bayou, but the ball was in a different area of the field, according to Hardy.

Bayou had two outs with a runner on third who scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Green Waves had six hits in the game, including the homerun.

The Green Waves will be in Marks to play Delta Academy in non-district action tonight.

There are six games left on the Green Wave schedule to finish out the year. All of them are district games.

Indianola leads the district with an undefeated record, following by Bayou with one loss and Lee Academy with two losses. North Delta and Carroll Academy both have three losses.

North Delta (4-6 overall, 3-3 district) has three games next week. Tuesday, they will got to Indianaola. Thursday and Friday, they will be at home to host Bayou and Marshall. All games will be played at 4 and 6 p.m.
 

It was a heartbreaker all around as the South Panola Tigers fell to Southaven 11-5 Tuesday night.

The Tigers (13-6 overall, 3-3 district) had previously beaten Southaven 3-0 on March 7.

The two teams will have one last chance tonight to determine the winner of the three-game district series in Southaven.

Tiger head coach Patrick Robey found it hard to say anything good about Tuesday’s game. The Tigers committed fielding errors which led to Charger scores.

South Panola went through three pitchers before the end of the game.

David Renfroe was the starting pitcher, who was relieved by Ethan Bright in the fifth inning. Barrett Johnson then relieved Bright for the final two innings.

On one play Southaven was able to clear the bases because a ball was overthrown and went into the Charger dugout in the top of the fifth inning.

The Tigers led 2-1 going into the top of the third inning. Southaven scored three runs in the top of the third to take the 4-2 lead.

In the first inning, Jonathon Flint singled to right field to drive home Johnson who had doubled to get on base.

Then Flint scored on a passed ball from third base.
In the bottom of the third, Tyler Benson scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Jameson Rodgers to center field.

In the top of the fifth, Southaven put the game away with three runs and then scored four runs in the top of the sixth.

The Tigers were only able to get two more runs in throughout the game.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Rodgers scored on a single RBI from Lance Hendrix.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Johnson hit a solo homerun over the centerfield wall for the last run of the game.

Jr. Varsity
The Jr. Varsity Tigers took the game 6-4 on two solo homeruns by Ethan Bright in the first and third innings.

In the first inning, Robbie Brown scored on a walk off run by Bud Barthold. Brown had singled to get on base.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers scored three more runs.

DeArlo Miles hit a single RBI to drive home Brandon Taylor, courtesy runner for catcher Marty Stokes, who had singled to get on base.

Barthold scored on a passed ball to home plate. Then Miles scored on a RBI single by Monroe Harrison for the final run of the game.

Southaven scored all four of its runs in the top of the third inning.

The games tonight in Southaven are slated for 5 and 7 p.m.

The Tigers played a makeup game with Tupelo Thursday but the score was not available at press time.

Saturday, the Tigers will be in Oxford to play Lafayette in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
 

"Four errors and four runs," said South Panola fastpitch softball coach John Davis.

On those four errors Tuesday night, Southaven took a 4-1 win over the Lady Tigers (7-9 overall, 2-3 district) in pivotal district action.

The Lady Tigers hosted Olive Branch Monday in a district makeup game and walked away with a 12-0 shutout in five innings. This was a rematch from a 17-0 win over the Lady Conquistadors on March 17.

The Lady Tigers scored six runs in the first inning, three in the third and three in the fourth.

Against Southaven, South Panola’s lone score came in the top of the second inning.

The Lady Tigers will be participating in the Morris Hunter Memorial Softball Tournament this weekend. All their games will be played at Southaven.

Today, the Lady Tigers will play Desoto Central at 5 p.m. Saturday morning at 11 a.m., South Panola and Mooreville will play.

Saturday at 5 p.m., South Panola will play Brighton, Tenn.

The Lady Tigers return to regular season action Tuesday at Horn Lake for the final district game of the season at 6 p.m.

The Jr. Varsity Lady Tigers defeated Olive Branch
5-1.

In the first inning, Haylei Plummer hit a double RBI, which went all the way to the center field fence.
 

Rucker is a 6-3 forward from Pontotoc.

Young, a 6-1 guard from Batesville, averaged 13.6 points per game as a senior and scored a career high 36 points in his final game against Trevecca Nazarene University in the TranSouth Tournament Semifinals. He maintained a 3.85 GPA in physical education.

In order to be named an All-America Scholar Athlete, players must be a junior or senior and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better.

Young is the son of Larry and Shirley Young.

Jarvis was a standout basketball player at South Panola.

His brothers Antuian Bradford and Chris Young were standout athletes on the South Panola football team. His brother Kevin Young will be a senior on the Tiger team next year.
