Pro Baseball
Hey, pro baseball season is heating up. Everybody is in the predicting stage of what will happen throughout the season.

Pro baseball has such a long season that it is summer before I can actually get to care what is really going on.

I get more fun out of watching what will happen with the Memphis Redbirds. I hope they have a great season this year. If you get a chance, you ought to hop on up there and catch a game.

War in Iraqi
I just want to re-iterate also how much our troops oversees need our support.

I hear that everyone wants the reporters out of Kuwait and stop reporting on the war.

That’s a matter of opinion kind of deal. As throughout history, newspaper reporting which has evolved into radio and television coverage is here to record history.

My parents speak of what they were doing when Pearl Harbor was bombed Dec. 7, 1942, as we speak of what we were doing September 11, 2001.

My mom recalls a man going down the road yelling the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor. She said she asked where was Pearl Harbor.

There were very few if any televisions around then and my family sure didn’t own one.

Radio was the quickest way to find out information at that time.

Now, we find out information faster with live feed from the war zone.

There may be some things that should not be said. But think of it this way. There could possibly be a whole lot of stuff covered that can’t be hidden now. Cameras are watching everything.

I said all of that to ask you to join The Panolian as we show our support to the troops.

They need to hear from home every day. They need to know we are behind them.

South Panola (9-10 overall, 1-2 district) lost the district matchup 9-5 to the No. 6 Conquistadors (20-2).

Windy weather seems to have been a factor in the game as the Tiger team committed many defensive errors.

Tyler Brewer was on the mound for the Tigers and had 10 strikeouts, four walks and allowed four hits. Brewer also hit a three run homer in the sixth inning.

South Panola led after the first inning 2-1. Olive Branch scored three runs in the second inning to take a 4-2 lead. The Quistors also put up three runs in the fourth inning for a 7-2 lead. Brewer’s homerun cut the lead 7-5, but the Quistors were able to score two more runs on defensive errors to go ahead 9-5.

The Tigers will be back on the road this weekend. Friday, April 4, the Tigers will be in Horn Lake at 4 p.m. for the junior varsity game and 6 p.m. for a varsity game. These are district games.
