Herman Ray Padgett, 50, of Batesville, died Friday, January 18, 2002, at his home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 21, at 2 p.m. at Dickins Chapel. Rev. Reggie Herron officiated the service. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Padgett, son of Ethel Stacey Long of Atmore, Alabama, and the late Herman Richard Padgett, was born November 30, 1951, in Atmore, Alabama. he was a construction worker and an U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors, other than his mother, include his wife, Linda Lucius Padgett of Batesville and Stephanie Faye Tinajero of Horn Lake; a stepson, Walter Stephen Sellers of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Cynthia Ann Doran of Ashford, Alabama, and Rosa Matthijetz of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren. Page, Michael Jr.
Michael Page, Jr., 21, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Milwaukee of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Enid. Rev. William Johnson officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.
Page, son of Michael Sr. and Margaret Page, of Milwaukee, was born November 8, 1980, in Charleston. He was a security guard and a member of St. John M.B. Church in Charleston.
Survivors, other than his parents, include two sons, Michael Page, III and Traynn L. Page, both of Milwaukee; two sisters, Katrina Page and Beatrice Page, both of Milwaukee; a brother, Rickey Kirk of Milwaukee; grandparents, Ruthie Mae Blue of Charleston and Fred Lumas of Holcomb; and a special friend, Quitrina Johnson of Milwaukee.
Palmer, Ola M.
Ola M. Palmer, 100, of Olive Branch, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in Southaven of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, at 10 a.m. at Broadway Baptist Church. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Como. Forest Hill South had charge of arrangements.
Palmer was the widow of the late Otis M. Palmer. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Baptist Women’s Association.
Survivors include four daughters, Ola May Finety of Birmingham, Alabama, Marian P. Thompson of Olive Branch, Eveyln P. Gregory of Memphis, Tennessee, and Ruth Goodnight of Southaven, 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grand-children and two great, great-grandchildren.

Panzer, Raymond Ralph
Raymond Ralph Panzer, 78, of Pope, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at Dickins Chapel. Rev. Doug Pepper officiated the service. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Panzer, son of the late George William and Harriet Miller Panzer, was born April 22, 1924, in Waukegan, Illinois. He was a retired die caster and carpenter for Johnson Outboard Motor Corp. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II. He and his wife, Peggy, served as volunteers for the U.S. Veterans at Great Lakes, Illinois and Oxford for 45 years. He was a member of the Gurnee Legion Post for 45 years and served one year as commander. For his dedication, he was awarded a paid lifetime membership. He was a member of the Young at Heart Club at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and the Keenagers at the First Baptist Church in Batesville. He was also a member of the Triad Club of Panola County. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a grandson, Aaron Chlopek.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Peggy Jane Maciejewski Panzer of Pope; two daughters, Eunice Haney of Waukegan and Gail Panzer Collins of Delavan, Wisconsin; a grandson, Michael Mellon of Waukegan; two granddaughters, Natasha Brothers of Moyoch, North Carolina, and Kereana Chlopek of Delavan; five great-granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Parnell, Marvin Floyd
Marvin Floyd Parnell, 95, of Boulder, Colorado, formerly of Sardis, died Friday, February 15, 2002, at The Boulder Manor of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 23, at 1 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Colston of Central H eights Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama, officiated the service. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Parnell, son of the late Marvin Ford and Pattie Francis Floyd Parnell, was born February 10, 1907, in the Pleasant Grove community. He graduated from Tate County Agricultural High School in 1926. He was a retired farmer and a member of Central Heights Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama. He was the widower of the late Tommye Ester Raiford Parnell.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Anne Thomas-Dodd of Charleston, South Carolina; a son, Robert Ford Parnell of Boulder, Colorado; three brothers, James Wallace Parnell of Southaven, Daniel Reid Parnell of Collierville, Tennessee, and Steven Cameron Parnell of Norwood, Louisiana; and two grandchildren.

Evelyn Joiner Patrick, 92, of Sardis, died Saturday, January 19, 2002, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford of renal failure.

Patrick, daughter of the late Louis Davis and Zula Goodnight Foster, was born October 18, 1909, in the Blackjack community. She was a seamstress and a member of Cold Sorings Methodist Church. She was the widow of the late James Loyd Joiner and the late Harold D. Patrick. She was preceded in death by two sons, Greekly Loyd Joiner and Ernest Lee Joiner.
Survivors included four daughters, Marie J. Mehan of Pope, Ruby J. Beardmore of Sardis, Katie J. Woolfolk of Senatobia, and Shirley J. Alexander of Foley, Alabama; two sons, James Earl Joiner of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Bill Joiner of Batesville; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.

Perkins, daughter of the late Frank Cluster and Ethel Mansel Underwood, was born February 12, 1927, in Ittawamba County. She was a retired employee of Panola Mills and a Presbyterian.

Bonnie Wallace Peyton, 80, of Independence, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at her home of heart failure.

Peyton was a retired teacher for the public school system, and a long standing member of Independence United Methodist Church. She was the widow of the late Hubert Floyd Peyton.
Survivors include two daughters, Micki Montanio of Dallas, Texas, and Robbye Anglin of Germantown, Tennessee; a son, Virgil Peyton of Jonesboro, Arkansas; her mother, Louise Burford Wallace of Independence; a sister, Joy Robison of Batesville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Robert R. Phillips, 78, of Batesville, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Methodist Hospital – Central in Memphis, Tennessee, of heart failure.

Phillips, son of the late Percy and Tipton Merandy Phillips, was born January 6, 1930, in Coila. He was a self-employed carpenter and owner of Phillips Construction Co. He was a member of Macedonia M.B. Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a private first class in the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953.
Survivors include his wife, Vergie Phillips of Batesville; four sons, Joe Thompson of Batesville, Lewis Charles Davis of Greenwood, Wilson Phillips and Melvin Phillips, both of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Jessie Lee Phillips of Slidell, Louisiana; two sisters, Sarah E. Jordan and Bessie B. Smith, both of Coila; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Polk, daughter of the late George and Lonnie Walton Carter, was born April 8, 1908, in Panola County. She was a housewife and a member of Eastern Star. She was also a member of Askew Grove M.B. Church, where she was a member of the Mother Board. She was the widow of the late Bedford Polk.
Survivors include five daughters, Georgia Crowder of Memphis, Tennessee, Mary Polk of Longtown, Edna Polk of Clarksdale, Coria Polk and Dorothy Polk, both of Sarah; four brothers, J.C. Prahl, son of Bruce Prahl of Marks and Ellen Hawkins McKibben of North Carrollton, was born October 20, 1983. He graduated from Delta Academy in Marks and was a student at Mississippi Delta Community College. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marks.
