Tigers pounce on Wolves

The South Panola baseball Tigers had a four-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 11-8 loss at Water Valley despite out-hitting the Blue Devils 7-6 on the day.
The Tigers (6-3) put up a five spot in the top of the third to take a 7-1 lead before Water Valley answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame then added five runs over the next three innings.
South Panola traveled to Cleveland Friday and came away with a 13-2 five-inning victory over the Wolves.

Holden Daleke and Jarett Toliver drove in two runs each with a pair of doubles to pace South Panola at the plate.
Daleke, a sophomore, is currently leading the Tigers offensively with a .467 (14-30) batting average.
Carlos Robinson doubled and drove in a run while Taylor Anderson and Caleb Hawkins added singles. Owen Roebuck and Vandarrious Pollard added runs.
Anson Bright got the starting nod on the mound and fanned seven on the three hits while giving up six unearned runs in three innings.
Dalton McGee took the loss in two innings of relief with four strikeouts on three runs (one earned) and four hits. Jamarion Ingram worked the sixth inning with two strikeouts one one unearned run.

South Panola struck for six runs in the top of the first inning against the Wolves then cruised the rest of the way behind Charlie Bowlin’s complete game.
Robinson and Toliver continued their hot hitting by driving in three runs each while Brooks Elliott and Ingram added a double and two RBIs apiece. Anderson also drove in two runs with a single as Daleke and Bright scored two runs.
Bowlin scattered seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
South Panola visits Oxford Saturday before traveling to the coast next week to take part in the “Battle at the Beach” tournament where they will play Central Hinds Academy at St. Martin High School Tuesday, followed by Wayne Academy and Jackson Prep at Pascagoula High on Wednesday.
