Two local airports received federal grants for upgrades, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker announced on Monday.
“Safety and system upgrades will provide a better experience for travelers and support economic growth opportunities in Mississippi. These investments will pay dividends for our state’s future,” Wicker said.
The Panola County Airport in Batesville will receive $345,987 to fund a portion of a project that reconstructs the existing runway lighting system.
The University-Oxford Airport in Oxford will receive $91,430 to rehabilitate the existing terminal access road.
The two airports were two of 17 airports to receive federal funding that totaled $6.7 million.
The Federal Aviation Administration will award the grants.
