Roy Lee Burks Sr., 72, of Sardis passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, March 22,  from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23,  at 2 p.m., in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Ragan officiating. Interment will follow in Marks Cemetery.

Roy was born September 8, 1951 in Crowder to the late David Elijah Burks and Lottie B. Ware Burks. Roy was a member of Evening Time Lighthouse Church. He loved the Lord and enjoyed helping teach a minister in the church. Roy was a lifelong tree cutter and wood worker. He loved tree cutting and especially enjoyed the smell of pine, oak, and other woods. Later in life, he enjoyed making pool sticks and thoroughly enjoyed it.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Burks, and two brothers, Carl Stanley Burks and Reuben Burks.

The family he leaves to cherish his memory include five children, LaRhonda Ragan, Patty McGehee, Terry Dillard, Steven Dillard, and Roy Lee Burks, Jr., one sister, Sheila Bowman, one brother, Mark David Burks (Joyce), fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
