North Delta stays hot with 9-2 record – Wave picks up wins at Beach Tournament

The North Delta School baseball team continued its hot start with a 19-0 rout of Delta Academy in three innings at home Wednesday, March 6, but had their six-game winning streak halted the following day against Magnolia Heights 11-4 in Senatobia.

The Green Wave (9-2) rebounded with a 8-3 win over 5A Wayne Academy in the opening game of the Bash at the Beach Tournament in Biloxi on Monday, March 11.

North Delta closed out the tournament Tuesday, March 12, against Heritage Heritage and Columbia Academy before opening up district play Tuesday, March 19, at Clarksdale Lee.

The Green Wave wasted little time disposing of Delta by scoring six runs in the first and 13 in the second frame. Alex Jackson doubled and drove in three runs while Kolby Baker, Rowan Gordan,Jett Manning and Hunter Carpenter added two RBI’s each.

Manning, who leads the team with a .556 batting average, collected three singles with Baylor Scammon adding two doubles and three runs scored. Baker registered a double

while Carpenter supplied a triple and three runs scored.

Herron Williams and Owens Johnson contributed with singles. Baker pitched a hitless three innings with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Scammon singled and doubled to pace the Green Wave at the plate with Gordon, Williams and Baker adding singles. Owens Johnson, Williams, and Clayton Hentz saw time on the mound.

The Wave got back on the winning track with a victory over the Jaguars at Biloxi High School.

Deacon Downs, Johnson and Scammon singled and doubled to pace North Delta at the plate.

Manning, Gordon, Jackson and Baker supplied singles with Williams and Carpenter scoring one run each.

Jackson recorded the pitching win with six innings on the hill with Baker closing out the game with one inning of relief work.
