Jimmy D. Cates, 80, of Pope, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, March 8, 2024, at his home. Mr. Cates was the husband of Margaret Cates.

The family will have a memorial mass at St. John’s Catholic Church in Sardis at a later date.

Jimmy was born December 31, 1943 in Memphis to the late Lloyd Ezra Cates and Ina Jo Jernigan Cates. Jimmy was a master electrician by trade and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Sardis.

The family he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 60 years, Margaret Cates, his son, Robert Cates, one sister, Kathy Clymer, and one brother, Poodle Cates.
