JD Daugherty, Jr., 68, passed away Saturday,  Jan. 20, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Funeral services for JD will be held at 1  p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24,   in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 11  a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Courtland. Rev. Tim Ellis will officiate.

JD was born July 18, 1955, one of two children to the late JD Daugherty and Frances Overa Ellis Daugherty in Batesville. JD was the retired business owner of JD’s Quick Stop in Pope, MS.

JD enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be hunting or fishing. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Any event they were involved with, JD was sure to be in attendance. He never missed a game or show if the grandkids had a part in the activities.

In addition to his parents, JD was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Kay Tutor Daugherty.

He is survived by 2 sons, Michael Scott Daugherty of Courtland, Christopher Lee Daugherty of Pope; brother, Dan Daugherty of Pope; 7 grandchildren, Michael Scott Daugherty, Jr., William Louis Daugherty, Anne Marie Daugherty Coleman, Mary Elizabeth Daugherty Gurley, Christopher Lee Daugherty, Jr., Patrick Ryan Long Daugherty, Danielle Dawn Long Daugherty, Avery Kay Hayesonna Daugherty; 4 great grandchildren, EvaKay Rose Daugherty, Braelynn Elizabeth Daugherty, Grant Thomas Daugherty, Tucker Hayes Gurley.
