Batesville businessman Josh Hawkins was sworn in Tuesday, Jan. 2, as a freshman member of the Mississippi House of Representatives. Rep. Hawkins won the District 10 seat in November with an overwhelming majority. The district covers Lafayette and Panola counties.  Hawkins said he spent the first week of the Legislative session attending meetings and learning procedures. He will receive his committee assignments this month. \
