Normand Cote, 80, of Batesville, passed away Thursday Aug.3, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family at his home.
The funeral service were Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends two hours prior, beginning at Noon. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park.
Normand was born June 25, 1943 to the late Alfred A. Cote and Marie Rose Daigneault Cote in Taftville, CT. A U.S. Army National Guard Veteran, Normand was a retired police officer with the City of Norwich, CT. At the time of his passing, he was the owner and president of Mississippi Detective and Security Service in Batesville.
Normand also previously served as a special deputy with the Panola County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of both the Knights of Columbus and the Civitan club. Normand was a very simple man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving and giving man who was an extremely hard worker. He will be missed tremendously by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Cote and Boy Cote, one sister, Laurea Cote, and two brothers, Robert Cote and Donald E. Cote.
The family he leaves to cherish his memory include his children, Michelle Joyner (Jimmy), of Hernando, Melissa Dalton (Shawn), of Strayhorn, Michael Cote (Karen), of Jacksonville, NC, and Matthew Cote (Maggie), of Batesville, three sisters, Leonie Poudrier, Jeanette Gadbois, and Aline Banta, and one brother, Deacon Al Cote, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
