Elizabeth Marie Joyner Cosby Hughes, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Diversicare in Batesville.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12,  in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

The interment service at Forrest Memorial Park will be a private family only gathering. Bro. Hal Johnson and Bro. Michael Bates will be officiating the services.

Marie was born Sept. 20, 1940 in Tallahatchie County, MS to the late Robert “Bob” and Daisy Bell Thompson Joyner. She was a member of the Batesville Church of Christ and was a retired R.N. Marie enjoyed the simpler things in life while reading a good book and drinking her coffee and Pepsi. She always loved her summer vacations to the beach as well.

Marie is survived by her husband, Ralph Hughes; three daughters, Tammy Cosby Darby (Charles) of Pope,  Sandra Cosby Darby (Leslie) of Batesville,  Sherry Cosby Bratcher of Courtland; step-daughter, Kristie Loflin of Water Valley; five grandchildren, Laura Davis (John), Karlee Kiihnl (Luke), Avery Darby, Zane Surrette, Ryan Darby; three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her first husband, Avery Cosby and her son, Timothy Dewayne Cosby.
