Olive P. Rutherford, 91, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at the Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis.A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Batesville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

Olive was born on Jan. 14, 1930, to the late Joseph Allen Herbert and Dorothy Winifred Burton in Long Island, New York. She was a homemaker during her lifetime and a member of the Olive Branch Christian Church.

Ollie enjoyed knitting, quilting, and reading during her spare time. She also had a unique collection of lighthouses and loved her cats.

The family left behind to cherish her memory includes her children, Tambrey Rutherford of Olive Branch, Melissa Rutherford Hanson of Memphis, and George Rutherford of Hernando; one brother, Robert J. Herbert of Byhalia; and two grandchildren, Jamie Allison Rutherford and Danielle Elaine Smythye.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, R.V. Rutherford; one sister, Joyce Herbert Kirkham, and one brother Warren Joseph Herbert.
