Alfred “Sonny” Eugene Jennings, 91, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 at the Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville.
Sonny was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Vance, to the late Thomas Arthur and Opal Tabb Jennings. He was a graduate of Walnut High School. Following graduation, Sonny entered the U.S. Air Force and served four years. After serving in the Air Force, he moved and made his home in Batesville.
Sonny worked as a radio communications engineer for WBLE Radio Station, owned and operated a T.V. repair shop and retired from Truckline Gas Company as communications engineer.
He enjoyed traveling, fishing and was a lifetime member of the Lake Charles Hunting Club. Sonny was also a licensed H.A.M. radio operator.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Shirley Jennings of Batesville; daughter, Maryan George of Clarksdale; two sons, Marc (Cathy) Jennings of Batesville, and Marshall (Angela) Jennings of Nancy, KY; step children, Kevin (Linda) Locke of Locke Station, Rhonda (Brad) Irwin of Courtland; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
