Tigers take two from Lafayette

Four South Panola pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter in the second game of a double header as the Tigers defeated Lafayette County 6-2 in five innings Tuesday night in summer league baseball play.
South Panola won 4-2 in the the first game of the twin bill.
Dre’ Moore, Blaine Cosby, Mari Boyd, and Caleb White combined to strikeout nine Commodore batters with the lone hit coming with one out in the fifth inning.
Cosby and White fanned three each while Boyd added two in one inning of relief.
Lafayette Co. grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first before South Panola erupted for five-run second inning. John Blockmon, who recorded four hits on the day, delivered the big blow with a two-run double to break the game open.
John Culp, Cosby, Tate Anderson and Wes Morgan supplied singles in the frame.South Panola collected eight hits with Culp and Blockmon leading the way with two singles each.
Moore also added a RBI single in the first.
South Panola scored two runs in the bottom off the fourth inning to break a 2-2 tie to win the opening game.
Denver Brown gave up three hits while fanning five in four innings of work on the mound. Morgan worked a scoreless fifth to earn the save. Brown helped his cause at the plate with two singles.
Moore and Blockmon also provided two singles while Morgan scored two runs by reaching base on two hit-by-pitches and a walk.
