Six South Panola School District educators were recently honored with South Panola Foundation for Public Education grants. School principals and foundation board members presented grants ranging from $230 to $2,864.30 to teachers for their proposed projects.
The educators will use the grant money for project ideas that were submitted earlier this year. A total of $7,512.33 was invested into South Panola classrooms through these six grants. A group of retired educators, local business owners, parents, and community leaders were assembled to blindly judge the grant proposals and choose which ones to fund.
Only projects that can’t be funded from any other source, and are approved by the foundation, Superintendent Tim Wilder, and the Board of Trustees were eligible for the special grants.
The SP Foundation for Public Education was started to improve student achievement by encouraging educational innovation and providing new and enhanced instructional opportunities not traditionally fueled by the South Panola School District.
