May 14
The NAACP will meet Tuesday before the third Sunday, May 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Batesville Public Library.
May 11
Black Jack Community Center will have Karaoke Night from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and concessions will be available. Good family fun. For more information, call 563-7060.
A Shiitake Mushroom Workshop will be held at the Armstrong Street Church of God in Christ tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dr. Frank Mrema, forestry and mycology specialist from Alcorn State, is the guest speaker. The event will teach about the mushroom farming outreach program at Alcorn to create awareness on various mushroom production techniques affordable and ideal to small farmers and forest landowners. Lunch will be served.

The Panola County Cattlemen’s Association will be selling Ribeye Steak Sandwiches in the Sav-A-Lot Parking Lot on Thursday & Friday (May 23-24) from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. All proceeds from this sale will go towards the Youth Scholarship Fund.
May 25
There will be a Crowder School Reunion beginning at 4 p.m. at the Crowder Baptist Church Family Life Center. Pot luck dinner starts at 5 p.m. All former students are invited.
Batesville Church of Christ will have a community blood drive Saturday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the annex. All blood screened is for Lebonheur and St. Jude’s Hospitals. All donors will received a $15 Darden Restaurant gift card through bonus points in the online rewards store and a Blood Donor cap.

The next Food Giveaway by the North Panola Mobile Food Pantry will be Tuesday, May 28, from noon to 2 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church in Como. Pick up vouchers are the following places: Crenshaw Library, Monday, May 13 from noon to 4 p.m.; at Sardis Library Friday, May 17, from noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to noon and Wednesday, May 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church.

The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion
for Oct. 19. Contact 934-7281, 934-1272, or 703-0171 for more information or to help in the planning. All persons with connections to this class are urged to call. The reunion date is the day after the South Panola High School homecoming game in the fall.

The Dreamriders will sponsor its annual Kids Day at the Lake, Saturday, July 13, beginning at 11 a.m. All children are 18 are welcome to enjoy refreshments, games, bouncy houses and see sights like the Lifeflight helicopter if it is available.

Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.
