Suspect admits making threat and incriminates self

Judge Jay Westfaul heard a disturbing the peace case during Wednesday’s session of Batesville Municipal Court where Latambrise Mosley was found guilty after incriminating herself.
Latambrise Mosley of 207- C Leonard St., Batesville was found guilty of disturbing the peace after a witness testified seeing her cursing and throwing a beverage at the affiant.
“She knew I was gonna slap her. I told her I was gonna slap her. So she shouldn’t have came to the gas station I was at.”
“Just stop right there! You just found yourself guilty,” said Judge Westfaul. Mosley is faced with a $328 fine which is due in 30 days.
Chelsi B. Cosby of 6943-A Eureka Rd., Batesville was charged with telephone harassment and cross-filed charges on Kori Ratcliff of 209-A Pamela, Batesville for stalking. Ratcliff provided phone records showing 58 blocked calls to her phone from Cosby.
“She called me and said her name was Jan, but I could hear my ex-husband in the background. So I knew it was her and I told her she broke the no contact order.
Sardis Judge Mike Wilson heard the case in November of 2016 and remanded the case to the files after ordering no contact on both parties.
“The ultimate problem is that I’m with her ex-husband,” said Cosby.
“You ladies are articulate, well dressed and better than this. This situation isn’t getting better. I can’t make people like each other. That’s not my job,” said Judge Westfaul.
The case was remanded to the files in an attempt to keep the peace.
Christy Griffin of 18713 Highway 51 N, Batesville was charged with simple possession of a controlled substance after being caught with 29 films of Suboxine and $300 in cash.
According to testimony by Seargent Will Parrish, officer’s responded to the residence after an individual reported buying Suboxine from Griffin.
The individual provided text messages from Griffin stating she would sell Suboxine to him.“
“He stole my phone and then my medicine! I threatened to call the police department and he said ‘I have texts from you. I did not text him that,” said Griffin.
Griffin provided a prescription for the Suboxine and stated she had just visited the ATM which is why she had so much cash on her.
All evidence was turned over to the county for further investigation. “I’m going to declare this a mistrial, I don’t want to rule on this if the county is going to bring up charges for distribution,” said the judge.
Antonia Threatt of 311 Walton St., Sardis pleaded not guilty to shoplifting. Threatt claims she was with Michael Ballentine of 598 E. Lee St., Sardis who pleaded guilty over the telephone to the charges.
“He is the one who stole, not me,” said Threatt. The case will go to trial on March 29. Ballentine has 30 days to pay the $1,146 fine and has old fines from July 2016 in the amount of $1,146.
Brandon Frederick of 200 Park St., Batesville was held in contempt of court for old unpaid fines from December of 2015. “I haven’t paid them because I’ve been in jail for unpaid child support,” said Frederick. Judge Westfaul has allowed Frederick 30 days to pay the $368 fine.
Linda K. Gross of 450 Union Rd., Sardis was being held for contempt of court in Yalobusha County Jail due to overcrowding at the Panola County Jail.
A family member pleaded with Judge Westfaul stating, “she’s a drug addict and we’re trying to get her help. That’s why we haven’t been able to pay the fine.” Judge Westfaul has given Griffin six months to pay the $1,146 fine and granted her release.
Titus Jones of 48 Hardy Rd., Courtland, pleaded guilty to simple possession of marijuana in a vehicle. Jones requested to be given the opportunity to work off the $683 fine.
Isaiah Pickens of 48860 Highway 32, Charleston, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana in a vehicle, possession of paraphernalia, suspended driver’s license, expired tag and firearm enhancement penalty.
Judge Westfaul dropped the expired tag charge after Pickens provided proof that he got the tag fixed. The weapon was forfeited to the city and Pickens has 30 days to pay the $2,357 fine.
Roman D. Smith of 9718- B Hwy. 51 S, Courtland, pleaded guilty to public drunk and paid the $225 fine prior to court.
Shermain Clemons of 901 Herron Rd., Courtland, pleaded guilty to public drunk and paid the $225 fine prior to court.
Daniel Patton of 1688 Farrish Gravel Rd., Batesville, pleaded guilty to trespassing and has 30 days to pay the $417 fine.
Heather Allen of 208 Baker St., Batesville, was charged with simple assault. The charge was ammended to simple domestic assault due to Allen allegedly assaulting her mother. Allen pleaded not guilty to the charge and the case is set to go to trial March 22. Judge Westfaul ordered Allen to stay away from her mother as a condition of her bond.
Scottoria Robinson of 411 Willa St., Batesville, pleaded not guilty to simple assault and is set to go to trial March 22. Judge Westfaul asked Robinson why his old fines in the amount of $753 had not been paid and ordered him to have it paid by 3p.m. March 3.
James Barber of 11427 Hadorn Rd., Batesville, failed to appear to answer charges for simple assault. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Lesia Tunson 201- A Patton Ln., Batesville, pleaded guilty to simple domestic violence and public drunk. “My kids tried to jump on me, so yeah I beat ‘em,” said Tunson. She has 30 days to pay the $642 fine.
James K. McGhee of 198 James St., Batesville pleaded not guilty to simple domestic violence. The judge ordered McGhee’s release from the Panola County Jail but a hold had been placed by the Mississippi Department of Corrections. A trial date has been set for March 8.
China White of 198 James St., Batesville, failed to appear to answer charges for simple domestic violence. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
Lisa Nissen of Skyline, Batesville, failed to appear to answer charges for shoplifting. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.
Lekendrick Hervey pleaded guilty to contempt of court for unpaid fines from November 2016. Hervey served approximately three weeks at the Panola County Jail and was released with time served.
Kendrick Flagg of 5575 Hawkins Rd., Courtland, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, firearm enhancement penalty, disorderly conduct failure to comply and public profanity. The case has been bound over to the grand jury.
Carlton Raynor III of 8417 Curtis Rd., Batesville was charged with possession of firearm by felon, possession of stolen firearm, improper equipment and driving while license suspended. The case has been bound over to the grand jury.
Lacie Sheedy of 240 Lee Dr., Clarksdale, was charged with prescription forgery. The case has been bound over to the grand jury.
Johnathan Griffin of 151 Love Ave., Crowder, was charged with trespassing. A new trial date has been set for March 22 so that the affiant can be notified.
Jimmy Russell of 369 Cline Rd., Sardis, was charged with disturbing the peace. The case was remanded to the files for two years under the condition that Russell stay away from the Heafner family.
Lynsi M. Johnson of Batesville, was charged with phone harassment. The case is to be continued.
Krishunna Starlock of 211 Noble St., Batesville, was found guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor after officers found three children alone at a residence outside in 30 degree weather with shorts and t-shirts on and after finding an infant alone inside the home with the oven on. Starlock was returning for sentencing but the case is to be continued.
