Female residents report multiple crimes of assault

Numerous female residents reported being the victims of multiple crimes ranging from simple assault by threats to rape in Panola County from February 15 to February 22.
Child Protective Services received reports on February 22 from school officials stating a 17-year-old girl reported having sexual relations with her step-father, according to the report.
The disabled student reported to Investigator Bryan Arnold the incident occurred in late January or early February.
According to the report, a forensic interview was conducted and is consistent with sexual abuse. The suspect is no longer living in the home with the student.
Investigator Arnold received another report of rape on February 17 where a disabled 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her father.
According to the report, the victim’s legal guardian received a phone call from the suspect asking to speak to the victim, but the victim refused indicating a crime had been committed.
The victim reported trying to yell but stated the suspect punched her in the mouth causing her to bleed. The investigation is ongoing.
Investigator Arnold received a call from a Coles Point resident who stated she was raped by five individuals on Northwood Drive in Batesville.
According to the report, the victim was taken to a Memphis hospital for tests. The incident is under further investigation.
Deputy Jeremy Hailey spoke to a Belmont Road, Sardis resident who reported the suspect threw a rock through her kitchen window.
According to the report, the resident has received multiple threats from the suspect who has threatened the life of the resident and her boyfriend.
Deputy Jeff Still responded to Terza Road and spoke with an individual who reported she was riding with an unknown man when he said she would have to have sex with him because she was riding in his truck.
The victim advised her unwillingness and jumped from the moving vehicle. The incident is under further investigation.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office received 38 reports from Panola County residents requesting service from Sheriff Deputies from February 13 to February 24.
February 13
• Smart Road, Como residence was reportedly broken into after someone entered the home through the front window and exited through the back door. According to the report, some items were reported stolen from the residence.
February 14
• State Park Road, Sardis resident reported to Deputy Jeremy Hailey over the last two months an individual has been stealing gas and batteries from the golf course.
According to the report, a video camera was placed on the golf course and caught footage of a gray SUV seen backed up by the cart shed and shows the suspect getting gas from the golf carts.
• Deputy Hailey spoke to an individual at Belmont Apartments who reported someone kicked in the door to an apartment and was living in the apartment.
According to the report, an ID was found in the apartment belonging to the previous resident, whom had been evicted.
February 17
• Sardis Lake Drive resident reported to Deputy Steven McLarty an individual owed him money and gave him eight $5 bills. According to the report, the resident stated he had the bills checked and realized they were fake.
• While conducting a safety checkpoint Deputy McLarty asked one individual to pull to the side over the road after the driver advised she didn’t have any identification.
According to the report, Deputy McLarty smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked the driver to step to the back of the vehicle. The driver advised there was no marijuana in the car but marijuana had been smoked in the vehicle the night before.
According to the report, after getting consent to search the vehicle Deputy McLarty found a plastic box containing 55 pills which the driver advised were Loratabs.
The driver stated she bought the pills from an unknown individual. After getting the driver’s information she was released. The affiant in an earlier incident involving counterfeit money arrived at the checkpoint and was asked to speak to Deputy McLarty.
According to the report, the individual who sold the driver the Loratabs was the same individual that gave the Sardis Lake Drive resident the counterfeit money. According to the report, neither individual knew the suspect’s real name.
• Wells Street, Courtland resident reported to Deputy Hailey her five-year-old son was on Nash Road helping to clean up a church and was attacked by a black and white dog biting him on the head. The resident stated she did not want to press charges.
February 18
• Deputy Britton Crawford was dispatched to a shots fired call on Highway 6 East where the resident stated the suspect arrived at the residence and began firing shots at her and her boyfriend.
Deputy Crawford made contact with the suspect and secured the firearm. According to the report, the suspect stated when he arrived at the residence he grabbled the .22 rifle and began firing at the residence but doesn’t believe that he hit them. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
• Highway 51, Sardis resident reported to Deputy Crawford someone broke into his home and stole his TV, Xbox and games. According to the report, the resident stated he recently kicked out two roommates.
A shoe print was found inside the home along with an older footprint found in the back yard that was dried in mud. The investigation is ongoing.
• Warren Street, Como resident reported to Lieutenant Emily Griffin she was overseeing an estate after the individual passed away. According to the report, the resident advised someone broke into the home and stole three or four firearms and three boxes of copper.
February 19
• Lieutenant Griffin responded to Merit Health Emergency Room in reference to a motor vehicle and was informed the victim was being airlifted due to paralysis.
According to the report, the victim’s friends found her red Ford F150 overturned on Highway 310 near the Lafayette County line and pulled the victim from the vehicle. The friends stated they drove the victim to the hospital after calling 911 three times and no help responded.
According to the report, Lt. Griffin drove to the area where the accident occurred and found no vehicle or any evidence of an accident.
• Duke Road, Courtland resident reported to Deputy Maurice Market she took her husband to the hospital last night and stated two individuals agreed to stay at the residence with her father.
According to the report, the resident returned home to find $11,450 missing from her freezer. The suspect stated he used the money to buy a vehicle, according to the report.
• Lieutenant Emily Griffin responded to Ebenezer M.B. Church in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, Lieutenant observed pry marks and foot prints on the back door and advised all units to be on the lookout for a black Ford Focus as a possible suspect.
Como units located the suspect’s vehicle and observed an amplifier in the back of the vehicle which church officials reported missing. The suspect was located walking on Railroad Street by Deputy Jeff Still and was released to Tate Sheriff’s Office due to pending warrants.
• Deputy Market spoke to a Bolton Road, Pope resident who reported a young kid came up behind his vehicle and ran him off the road with his flashers on.
According to the report, the resident followed the kid to his grandparents residence to talk with him and stated the kid cussed him out and threatened to do bodily harm to him and his wife.
February 20
• Atkins Street, Sardis resident reported to Lieutenant Chuck Tucker she has been having problems with an individual harassing her and has made several reports and filed charges on her.
According to the report, the resident noticed her car had been keyed Sunday morning and was told by a witness that the suspect admitted to keying her car in a text message.
February 21
• Bishop Road, Crenshaw resident reported to Deputy John Still he ordered a tag for his vehicle. According to the report, the tag was sent to the wrong address and he never received it.
• Liberty Hill Road resident reported to Deputy John Still an individual posted her photo on Facebook without her consent.
February 22
• Deputy Market spoke to a Longtown Road resident who reported his ex-girlfriend was asked several times to stop coming on his property but she refuses to do so.
• Deputy Bobby Billingsley stopped at a residence on Enid Dam Road to speak to the resident regarding her dogs attacking the neighbor’s dog.
According to the report, the resident was issued a formal warning three weeks prior to the incident advising her to keep the dogs on her property or she would be cited.
During Deputy Billingsley’s visit he observed all but one of the dogs were out and roaming the area. The resident was cited for failure to comply with the aggressive dog ordinance.
February 23
• Deputy George Renfroe responded to Pine Ridge Road, Pope and spoke with the resident who stated her daughter is with her boyfriend whom she hasn’t seen or heard from since the day before.
The resident reported her boyfriend advised they were going to the coast and hasn’t heard from them since.
• Old Highway 51, Courtland resident reported his ID stolen to Captain Willie Harris.
According to the report, the resident stated he lost his wallet in the club a couple years ago and when he went to renew his driver’s license he was told that someone had gotten tickets on that license and also got a cellphone from Sprint in his name.
• Connie Ross Road, Como resident reported an unknown subject attempted to break into his residence.
February 24
• Curtis Road resident reported to Investigator Terry Smith an individual was harassing her by attempting to stop her on the road and talk to her.
According to the report, as Investigator Smith was getting a statement from the resident shots were fired. Investigator Smith requested another unit and responded to the home of the suspect where the shots were coming from.
The suspect stated he was shooting the guns and stated he would stop attempting to contact the resident. The suspect agreed it was unsafe to fire the guns at his home because of nearby neighbors and advised he would stop.
• Deputy Jeff Still responded to Highway 51, Como for a disturbance where the resident reported that a 28-year-old, 20-year-old and an 18-year-old attacked him in the driveway.
• Teasdale Road, Enid resident reported to Deputy John Still she is trying to get her niece into an assisted living facility and the application requires a credit check which led her to discover several credit cards have been opened in her nieces name.
According to the report, the niece nor the resident have applied for any of the credit cards.
• Oakdale Drive resident reported his wife has been taking his daughter’s ADHD medication and not giving it to her.
