A disturbance that began at Loves truck stop ended with the suspect’s Silver Chevy Trail Blazer in a ditch at the south Batesville exit ramp off of Interstate 55 on August 23.
According to the report, Deputy Josh Griffin was inside the Subway when a customer advised him of a subject causing a disturbance and yelling obcenities at employees in the drive thru window at the McDonald’s.
Deputy Griffin told the suspect to get back in his vehicle and leave.
“You’re going to get your respect because you’re white,” the suspect responded. Deputy Griffin advised the suspect that he was coming outside and told him not to leave.
According to the report, the suspect then fled the scene at a high reate of speed screeching his tires and almost colliding with Deputy Jeremy Hailey’s patrol vehicle who was pulling into the parking lot at the time.
Deputy Griffin and Deputy Hailey pursued the suspect southbound on I55.
“As I got to the south Batesville exit I obsered the silver SUV facing the interstate just off of the off ramp in the ditch,” said Deputy Griffin.
Deputy Griffin noticed the vehicle was empty and still had the lights on. Deputy Griffin ran the tag and notified the Batesville Police Department of the incident.
According to the report, the suspect was located on Woodland Drive just off of Highway 6. The suspect was transported to the Panola County Jail.
A Senatobia resident was traveling north on Highway 51 north of Batesville with her two daughters ages six and one month.
According to the report, a Chevy truck passed the resident  and then slammed on his brakes, sliding to a stop.
“I had to go onto the shoulder of the road on the left side to pass the truck to keep from hitting it,” said the resident.
According to the report, the resident stated as she was passing the truck  the  man that was driving opened his door and shot at her with a handgun twice, but didn’t  hit her vehicle.The investigation is ongoing.
The Panola County Sheriff’s office received 38 reports from residents requesting service from sheriff deputies from August 14 to August 2.
August 14
• Deputy Hailey spoke to a Memphis resident who stated her vehicle was hit with a crowbar.
According to the report, the Memphis resident stated she was on Chickasaw Road when the suspect walked out into the road with a crowbar in hand and hit her car on the driver’s side back door.
August 16
• Old Highway Road, Courtland resident reported to Deputy Britton Crawford she hired a plumber to do some work on her bathroom.
According to the report, the plumber made sexual advances towards the resident and tore up the resident’s bathroom after she’d paid him $300.
August 18
• Deputy Maurice Market spoke to a Belmont Road, Sardis resident who stated her ex-boyfriend was sending threatening text messages to her. According to the report, the resident has asked the subject to stop but the suspect refuses.
• LongTown road resident reported $600 worth of property missing from his garage.
August 19
• According to a report by Investigator Danny Beavers, a business cashed the suspect’s tax refund check in the amount of $570 on May 31.
On July 6, the suspect filled out paperwork claiming she never got the check and the amound of the check, plus fees were taken from the business and a new check was issued to the suspect.
• Cannon Road resident reported she was receiving threatening phone calls, stating the suspect would have one of his friends come to the residence and injure her seventeen year-old son’s pregnant fiance.
• Deputy Steven McLarty responded to Henry Heafner Road where he observed an intoxicated man standing on the side of the road.
According to the report, Deputy McLarty noticed the suspect was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his person. The suspect was arrested for public drunk and transported to the Panola County Jail.
• Pine Lake Drive resident reported to Deputy Renfroe a driver for Medicare transportation came to her home to pick her up and take her to therapy.
The resident stated the suspect went to use her restroom, not shutting the door and then came back aroused
According to the report, the driver continuously touched himself while driving to the clinic and asked the resident personal questions, like does she live alone.
August 20
• Deputy Renfroe responded to Merit Health Emergency Room for a possible sexual assault.
According to the report, the mother reported the suspect sexually assaulted her three year old daughter. Investigator Bryan Arnold and the Department of Human Services were notified.
• Jimmy Jones Trailer Park, Como resident requested an ambulance after being assaulted by her boyfriend.
According to the report, the resident had a contusion above her right eye and stated the suspect had fled the scene.
The resident stated she didn’t want to file charges and that she was going to stay with some family.
• Deputy McLarty responded to a burglary on McClyde Road and spoke to the resident who stated she returned home around midnight and found her back door open.
According to the report, Deputy McLarty observed pry marks along the frame of the door and shoe prints on the back porch. The resident stated nothing appeared to be mising.
• Deputy Darryl House was dispatched to Highway 315, Sardis near Wolf Road for a vehicle fire. Deputy House spoke to the driver and passenger of the red Toyota Camry.
According to the report, the driver was traveling East on Highway 315 when the vehhicle caught fire.
August 21
• Grenada resident reported to Deputy Harold Lewis her son was traveling south on Interstate 55 when the blue Chevy malibu quit and was left on the interstate overnight.
According to the report, when he returned to the vehicle someone had broken the passenger’s window and stolen a radio, amp and boom box with speakers.
• Deputy Britton Crawford spoke to a Chickasaw Road, Pope resident who stated his son was assaulted on Chapel Hill Road, Pope.
Deputy Crawford observed a black Dodge with a busted front windshield as well as the back glass busted.
The victim stated  he was coming home and noticed a car was tailing him.
According to the report, the resident stated when he reached the intersection his door was pulled open and a subject began hitting him with what he believed to be a wooden object and stated the suspect asked for his wallet but the victim told them that he didn’t have it.
The victim stated the suspects took his phone and broke it before driving away. The investigation is ongoing.
• Deputy Crawford and Deputy Renfroe were dispatched to a disturbance on Shiloh Road, Courtland.
According to the report, the resident’s husband threw a brick through the window of her Ford Expedition while she was sitting in it causing her to suffer cuts to her wrist and elbow. While the deputies were in route the victim called and stated her husband was leaving in a brown pontiac.
According to the report, the husband was drunk and upset because the wife  didn’t stay at home last night due to his drinking. Deputy Renfroe made contact with the suspect who stated he was in Charleston.
August 22
• Woodruff Road resident’s son discovered his pistol was missing out of his truck and reported it to Investigator Beavers. According to the report, there are no suspects at the time.
• Old Panola Road, Como resident reported a break-in to Lieutenant Willie Harris.
According to the report, the resident noticed her jewelry box laying on her bed and her bedroom and closet were torn apart.
The residents reported to be missing approximately $216 worth of property.
• In June of 2015 a wallet was taken from a Highway 51 South, Pope residence with the resident’s license and $150 in cash in the wallet.
According to the report, for the last year someone has been using the driver’s license from the stolen wallet.
• Mallard Point Road resident reported his cell phone stolen to Lieutenant David Mills.
• Gregg Taylor Road resident reported to Investigator Beavers he went to pick up his three year old daughter when the mother refused to let him take the child stating the child’s grandmother has been molesting the child.
According to the report, the father and grandmother wanted to speak to a deputy to deny the allegations.
The grandmother stated the child’s mother is making up these accusations because the father is trying to get custody of his daughter.
• Deputy House investigated a disturbance on Willow Road where the resident stated her brother hit the hood of her vehicle with a brick.
According to the report, the resident was advised to file charges on her brother.
• Roberson Lane resident reported to Deputy Jeremy Hailey someone put red and green paint on his 1999 Cadillac Deville.
According to the report, the resident recently moved and left the car on the property because it wouldn’t start.
The resident stated when he returned four days later someone wrote on the car using bad language.
August 23
• Lambert Road, Como resident reported to Investigator Beavers she had been physically and mentally abused for the past twenty-two years by her husband.
According to the report, the resident stated she did not want her husband to know she was talking with an officer.
The resident stated she is beaten every Sunday because he is out of town the rest of the time and stated back on May 19 her husband threatened her stating he would knock her head off.
The resident stated on July 31 her husband hit her in the head with the tv remote. Parties have gone their separate ways, according to the report.
• Macedonia Road resident reported to Lieutenant Harris someone damaged her mother’s house. According to the report, the house had major damage to the north side of it.
According to the neighbor, he stated his girlfriend and her five year-old son came to his house and his girlfriend went inside.
He continued to state her five year-old son knocked the car into gear and the car rolled down the hill hitting the house and causing the damage.
August 24
• Orwood Road resident reported $1,100 worth of stolen property to Deputy McLarty and Deputy Mark Allen.
According to the report, the residents were missing a 44 caliber revolver, 22 caliber revolver and a Burris Scope.
• Deputy Market responded to Ballentine Road where a resident stated she was bitten by a stray dog and asked if someone would take the dog away.
• Main Street, Pope resident reported to Deputy Allen he lost his brand new tag after laying it on top of his vehicle and driving away.
August 25
• Butler Street resident spoke with Investigator Terry Smith regarding a previous incident at her residence.
The resident stated an individual came to her home drunk and continuously knocked on the door.
According to the report, this is when another resident called 911 and Sardis Police Officers were dispatched to the location.
According to the report, the suspect was allowed to leave on foot and his vehicle was left on their property. The suspect stated he was sorry for the incident.
• Orwood road resident who previously reported to be missing guns reported to Deputy Allen and McLarty that an individual who was staying with him had drugs and he wanted them out of his house.
According to the report, the deputies located a clear plastic back with a grinder, pipe and eight and a half blue pills believed to be Ecstasy.
The evidence was taken to the Panola County Sheriff’s office and placed in the evidence box.
August 26
• Pope Water Valley Road resident reported his Smith and Wesson pistol missing.
The weapon was entered on the National Crime Information Center.

• August 24, Vehicle lost control and hit a pole on Herron Subdivision. An injury was reported.
