Fleeing defendant fined for failing to comply

A Batesville man who fled from police March 2 on Hays Street admitted as much in Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday. Jeremy Ellis of 719 Bethlehem Road pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct/failure to comply. Judge Bill McKenzie imposed a fine of $647 and, at Ellis’ request, enrolled him in the city’s work release program for 12 days in lieu of cash payment of the fine.
Tavarus Maxson, 1223 Carlisle Road, Courtland, was found guilty of trespassing at 103 Lester St., where he had been previously ordered not to go. He was fined $417.
A couple described in court papers as “in a dating relationship” came before Judge McKenzie on charges of domestic violence/simple assault, filed by Officer Will Parrish March 1 after he was called to 210 Van Voris in response to an apparent dispute.
Michael H. Wilson of 314 Percyville, Sardis, admitted that he shoved Regina Jones at her home. He pleaded guilty and was fined $417.
Jones, alleged in court papers to have scratched Wilson, pleaded not guilty. A trial was set for April 13.
In another domestic violence case, Sammy Barksdale, 201 Pettit St., Batesville, pleaded not guilty. A trial date was set for April 13.
The judge dismissed a domestic violence/simple assault charge filed against Oscar D. Woodard of 109 Lester St., Batesville, after the affiant, Paul Edmond, failed to appear in court to prosecute the case.
Ronnie Porter of 204 Lester St., Batesville, pleaded guilty to public drunk and was sentenced to the nine days he served in jail after his arrest. He was released after court.
Jessica H. Osborn of 315 Willa St., Batesville, paid a fine of $200 prior to court on a dog leash law violation.
Daltrice Rudd, 3946-C Eureka Road, Batesville, was found guilty of contempt of court for old fines from June and September, 2015. She was ordered to have the full amount, $1,517, paid in two weeks or serve six months in jail.
Judge McKenzie issued a warrant for the arrest of Ronald Odom, 5330 Cohay Rd., Horn Lake, charged with shoplifting at Love’s. He failed to appear for his court date Wednesday.
The case of John R. Jones, 734 Oakdale Rd., Coldwater, was continued until March 23. Jones is charged with malicious mischief and disorderly conduct.
Taroski Green, 103 Field St., Batesville, failed to appear in court to answer a charge of simple possession of marijuana.
Keith Holmes, 230 Dunson Ave., Crowder, failed to come to court on charges of simple possession of marijuana and old fines.
