Local deputies assist with Tartt funeral

Two E-911 dispatchers and sheriff deputies all from Panola County were among local law enforcement showing support to their “brothers” as they worked Grenada County during Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Lee Tartt’s visitation and funeral Monday allowing Grenada staffers to attend.
Tartt was killed in the line of duty early Saturday morning near Iuka in Tishomingo County.
Friday night an armed man barricaded himself in a home southeast of Iuka with a woman and child. Three state troopers were injured in the shootout. The suspect was shot and killed.Tartt was 44-years-old and was a 22-year law enforcement veteran.
Panola County Chief Sheriff Deputy Chris Franklin confirmed Monday morning that Tartt had worked in Panola County on drug cases.
DPS Spokesperson Warren Strain said three state troopers were injured during the standoff and taken to area hospitals.
Strain said the MHP Swat Team and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation were on scene with Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement during the incident.
Sheriff deputies who worked traffic detail during the funeral procession were Emily Griffin and Rob Roberson. E-911 dispatchers Rebecca Allen and Vicky Harris Smalls manned Grenada dispatch during the services.
