James Arthur Harris
BATESVILLE––James Arthur Harris, 70, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Golden Living Center.
Harris, born May 16, 1945 to the late Clifton Harris of Sardis, MS and Bonnie Hobson Strickland of Como, received an education at the North Panola High School before moving to Toledo, Ohio. He returned to Mississippi over 25 years ago and worked in Memphis as a truck driver and construction worker. He was a member of the Cistern Hill M. B. Church of Como after returning from Toledo and served as one of the original members of the Cistern Hill Male Chorus.
Survivors along with his mother include: two sons: James Arthur Harris Jr. and Allen Keith Harris both of Toledo; his step-father Robert Lee Strickland of Como; two sisters, Bonnie Virginia Britten of Toledo, Ohio, and Gwendolyn Hailey of Southaven; four brothers, Henry Strickland and Charles Strickland of Toledo, Ohio, Thomas Earl Strickland and Allen Keith Strickland, both of Como, and one step-brother, Ernest Strickland of Fulton, Kentucky.
Ernest V. McCoy
KIRKVILLE––Ernest V. McCoy, 72, died December 21, 2015 at his residence.
Services were held Saturday, December 27 at Waters Funeral Home. Clifton Collins officiated. Burial was in Painter’s Bluff Cemetery in Cushman Ark. Waters Funeral Home had charge.
A native of Cushman, Ark., he was a retired mechanic and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting and camping. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer McCoy and his son, Little Ernie McCoy.
Survivors include: his wife, Lou Elmore Bennett; mother, Loraine Willis, and his children, Brenda Tygart of Heber Springs, Ark.; Robert McCoy of Batesville, Ark., Daniel McCoy of Batesville, Ark., Steven McCoy of Sardis, Clifton Collums of Kirkville, Katherine Collums of Batesville, James Collums of Louisiana, Clara Hastings of Florida; and a host of brothers and sisters; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
