Louise Onidas Loven

COMO––Louise Onidas Loven, 93, died December 26, 2015, at Baptist Desoto Hospital.
Services will be held Saturday, January 2 at 11 a.m. at Como C.M.E. Church. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
Survivors include: one son, Jerry Onidas of Como; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Thomas Earl McCullar

BATESVILLE––Thomas Earl “Peach Man” McCullar, 68, died Monday, December 28, 2015, at his residence.
Services were held Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
McCullar, born April 9, 1947, in Memphis, to the late Carey Thomas McCullar and Cornelia Franklin McCullar, retired after 30 years from Ford and General Motors in St. Louis, Mo. He was the owner and operator of McCullar Peach Orchard outside of Batesville.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Rogers McCullar of Batesville; four daughters; Lorene Elizabeth Masters of Landenberg, PA, Mary Frances McCullar, TomiAnne Schmidt, and Becky Jane Davenport all of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Pamela Martins of Como and  nine grandchildren.

Betty Jean Powers

OXFORD––Betty Jean Powers, 71, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were held Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Liz Sullivan officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Powers, born Jan. 18, 1944, to the late Rufus William Gant and Hattie Marie Smith Bell in Bells, Tenn., was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband of 26 years, Lee Roy Powers of Oxford; four daughters, Patsy Dianne Seele of Kansas City, Mo., Wanda Miller of Memphis, Lisa Cline of Raytown, Mo. and Vuanita Powers of Oxford; one son, Pat Powers of Oxford; three sisters, Shirley Blevins of Conyers, Ga., Anita Clements of Sardis and Joyce Drew of Oxford; two brothers, Marvin Gant of Chicago, Ill. and Eddie Gant of Lawrencville, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Bailee Daughtery, Lauren Daughtery, Tucker Seele, Michael Miller, Ashley Hester, Koby Alaniz, Nike Alaniz and four great-grandchildren, Ellisia, Justin, Blake and Megan.

Mabel Jean Everett Walker

MEMPHIS––Mabel Jean Everett Walker, 82, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Hal C. Johnson officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Walker, born Feb. 23, 1933, in Pope, to the late Charlie C. Everett and Floy C. Martin Everett, was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Southaven and was retired from Shulton Inc. in Memphis.
She is survived by: one son, Johnny Walker of Memphis.

Dr. Otwon Kenneth Watkins

SARDIS––Dr. Otwon “Ott” Kenneth Watkins, 85, died Thursday, December 24, 2015, at his residence.
The family will hold a private memorial service for Mr. Watkins at a later date. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
“Ott” was born to the late Oliver Kenneth Watkins and Bena Evelyn Williams in Memphis. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Baptist. He graduated Southside High School in Memphis and was a former police officer for the City of Memphis. He went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic Care in Iowa and was a practicing Chiropractor in San Diego, Calif. for 48 years before retiring to Sardis in 1995.
In addition to his parents, “Ott” is preceded in death by one daughter, Kaye Watkins Mestemacher.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Watkins of Sardis; one daughter, Bena Watkins Monfee of Sardis; one sister, Sharil Watkins Brown of Sardis, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
